  • Spurs have punched above their weight with that wage bill for sure and with the CL income they've done rather nicely... just depends if the risk of not getting extra legs in pays off in the coming weeks

I'm really looking forward to the attritional city spurs set

  • Yes indeed; rather than a risk I'm willing to call it a sacrifice I guess (as would Levy). He's clearly willing to spend up to a point and squeeze every drop of value (which in wages/net spend terms he clearly does) whilst basically sacrificing a sustained title challenge that he's not willing to take a £350-450m punt (which wouldn't guarantee title or even top 4 these days) on given the spending habits of the other top 6 teams

  • I’ve said before that we’ve got to this point (title contenders/champions league QF) a couple of seasons too early, on Levy’s time frame, taking into consideration the money we haven’t spent, and the players we can’t buy.
Pochettino has over achieved and the expectation at the club has risen to the point where the fans demand the cash/player infusion to challenge/win the title, when this level of play was supposed to happen after we got into the new stadium, not for the seasons running up to it.
Levy’s raised the wage bar, and we’re now prudently competitive in that regard, but we need a decent couple of transfer windows to find the right players so we can hopefully take that final step in the next couple of seasons.
