People who have built a Straggler, please help:
I've just received my frame and am not reaaaaally sure how I'm supposed to run the cables past/through(?) the bits on the downtube.

See pink bike above your post.

yep I've tried zooming in but I've never had parts like these (er, gears) on my bikes so a little unclear as to what the terminology is... ;)

Cable ties! Oh wait, downtube

Bought a Bridge Club before Christmas, my 4th Surly (2nd currently). Absolutely loving it, feels like a big BMX you could ride around the world. Will post pics later.

So I'm about to pull the trigger on my first Surly, a Midnight Special. Anyone on here owned/ridden one? Views? I'm particularly interested in any toe overlap issues. TiA.

tiny tiny HT if you're a tall
-
• #1310
Thanks. No I'm not a tall at all ;0)
5'9" but because of my T-Rex mutation I need a shorter top tube than would be "normal" for my height. So I go down a size, which reduces the HT even further. 110mm on my size. I usually slam on most of my bikes, but can feel some stackers coming on for the MS...

Yeah I just used cable stops. As I'm running a 1x setup, I only needed one for the rear mech cable routing. For the other side I should have got a Problem Solvers downtube shifter boss cover to make it look cleaner but I was too cheap so I just used a cable stop without the barrel adjuster to cover the boss.

I have a new boxed Surly cross check f+f in 54. Black, 2019 model. Anyone interested in buying this off me? Pick up from SW9 or happy to post at cost.

Last bits on and went out for a ride. Really comfortable, but really heavy. Like an old armchair

Can anyone recommend a fork for a Surly Pacer that can take a rack without p-clipping it on? Steel or carbon is fine by me.
Thanks
edit - Fork

I think it's the same geo as the steamroller, approximately? In which case there's been a fair bit of discussion on the straggler 650b fork working, with a nice example posted here:

what rack do you want to fit? a lot of racks will already fit your pacer fork

Anything really. It has no mounts anywhere except for the mudguards. I don't really like p-clips after i didn't tighten some up properly and they wrecked the paint work one. would prefer a cleaner look too.

Love the look of that. Looks great.

Looks lovely. I feel like I recognise the area for some reason, where is it?

The rape seed field is just outside a village called Wateringbury in Kent. The other pics are taken in Mereworth Woods between West Malling and Plaxtol, also Kent obviously. But I guess a lot of the UK fireroads look similar.

this looks like a fucktonne of fun
Fitted some updates to my Straggler. Swapped the stock S300 Courier chainring for a smaller Narrow -Wide and fitted a front rack. Ready for some longer spring rides now.
