  • Just don't put anything in it and order everything you need from Deliveroo/Uber-Eats/etc.

  • Can you hang the door on the opposite side, or does the wall on the right make that impossible?

  • @TW plasterboard on brick
    @Dammit Two doors, opening out - https://hisense.co.uk/refrigeration/all-refrigeration/rq560n4wc1/

@branwen Still slightly too narrow. The right side needs similar clearance for the door to open. So I need about 2.5cm clear on the right side of the fridge

    The gap is 82cm
    fridge is 80cm

But doors need ~3cm to open on either side. Left side is fine because the door is further out than the pillar, but the right side is a wall so I need the 3cm clearance on that side.
So I need the gap to be 83cm (let's say 84) really.

I think I might be alright. Just drilled into the plasterboard to see how far back the brick is and it looks like if that came off then it gives me about 2cm to play with.
So ~84cm wide for 83cm needed.
So could remove plasterboard and skim. (Then probably find that I'm about 3mm shy)

  • I would consider buying a new fridge that fits rather than faffing around with cutting bits of wall/brick or whatever away - whilst it might seem easier than sending the fridge back I would think you're going to end up spending along time making the chunk you cut away good again.

  • Does anyone have a Howdens Trade Account? I need to order my new kitchen through them, but my trusted local builder doesn't have an account - he is mostly a plasterer. I think I just need one to get a quote through

  • Buy a new fridge.

  • Bin the current doors and replace them with plantation shutters

  • Move the hinges to the top of the door and add hydraulics.

  • The Delorian of fridges.

If the temperature gets to -88 Celsius, it teleports into the future.

  • Stuff of nightmares. Best of luck, at least now you know what you need to do!

  • Buy a new fridge.

    This!

  • Unless it's a Liebherr.

  • Was going to say, do the fans both need the same voltage. But that's been cleared up apparently. Can you not get a new 12v fan instead of tearing the wiring out to suit the fan you've got now? Must be less expensive?

  • If you do find someone with a Howdens account make sure you only pay them against the actual invoices. Regular customers get 50-60% discount on list prices all the time. This type of supplier and many of the builders who recommend them appear to make a good living from this consumer fraud.

  • Hired a big breaker to finish this job I started last year. Loads of fun but my arms are fucked!

  • Appropriate username is appropriate

  • Builder covers the guarantee not Howdens, hence that excuse. Don't forget the 60 or 90 days credit too.

  • I wrestled a bit with some Ivy. Scratched my arms to a bloody pulp and am knackered but I won! F@cking thing had invaded the roof, pulled out 5-6 m long things from it, apart from all the visible crap.

  • Good grief that's a lot of ivy.

  • Top effort. Did you kill it dead at the roots as well?

  • Idk, I sawed it off as angrily as I could. Kicked it a few times and called it names. Will have to keep an eye on it in case it tries to come back.

Here's another shot of it, after I'd gone up on the roof and pushed/cut it away from the cladding.

Previous owner must have loved Ivy.

  • Congratulations! That's a colossal amount of work. To prevent recurrence, dig out the roots (yh I know). And to complete the work to ensure the soundness of the house, you should get the brickwork repointed.

  • Plumber took the lowest row of the new files off to fit the bath and sink. I need to get the adhesive off before tiler comes back to redo the tiles. What’s the safest way to get the adhesive off without damaging the plasterboard?
