  • Contracts exchanged! Moving into an old 18th Century Toll House next Monday, followed by jury service on Tuesday - hnnng.

Expect many questions about damp/dodgy electrics/planning permission on listed buildings + conservation area soon-ish.

Anyone got any experience with packing services from removals companies? Do we have to do anything or are they just going to turn up and sort it all out?

    Cool!
    Photos pls

  • How are you going to collect the tolls while you're on jury service, though?

  • “Overlooked” makes it sound like anyone peeping would have to be making a pretty conscious decision to do so. Set up increasingly gruesome faux murder scenes and they’ll probably stop.

  • Anyone after wood or fence panels?

  • What kind of wood is it? They look really nice... I kind of want but don't know what for.

  • Douglas Fir Evergreen, around 25 years old.

It will need to be dried for about a year before being good for anything.

Feel free to swing by and get some (New Cross Gate)

  • Anyone had a full buildings survey recently?

3 bed Victorian house. Been quoted between £650-1000, inc VAT.

£650 seems a bit cheap but they've got 80 odd very good reviews.

  • Buy cheap.
    Buy twice.

  • Not quite sure how I'd get it back yet but do you happen to know how wide the gates are and would you mind if I just took one of them?

  • Is it cheap or just good value?

Actually three companies have come in at £700.

I was expecting it to be more like £1000-1200

  • Also what sort of idiot buys two surveys? Your joke doesn't make any sense.

  • Sold them on Gumtree for £20.
Person prepaid £10 and is picking next week.
Will let you know if she doesn't

  • Yes.

    Where are you based?

  • Feel free to swing by and get some (New Cross Gate)

  • It makes total sense.
    Stop being thick.

  • Sorry missed that.

Do you know what the dimensions of the fence panels are?

    Cheers.

  • what is his/her hourly rate?

at £150, it is 5 hours to travel to and from, inspect, dictate and write the report. i'd allow 1 hour for travel and 2 hours to write and check the report - that leaves 2 hours to inspect your house.

seems cheap to me, but then i don't do building surveys. maybe their rate is £100, at which it would make more sense.

  • I'd be interested in some of the feather edge & arris rails - whereabouts are you?

[Edit] Didn't refresh the page - It's a bit far for me I'm afraid

  • It is a mix of sizes.
I think there are 4 sections 6ft tall by 12 ft long
    2 sections 4ft tall by 6ft long

It could be re-cut to size.

    It is all free obviously.

Swing by to check it out, I am next to Hong Kong City on Old Kent Road

The new concrete posts, concrete boards and fence panels are coming on Friday 26th April.

  • I don't have any breakdown of the quotes, they just give you the figure plus VAT.

Seems to me that this area has become very competitive recently.

  • I will bum you so hard.

  • Thanks.

    I'll check with the boss.
