  • Bump ... Anyone tempted?

  • The rules on here require a bump to include either a reduced price or new information....this is my Speaker Bercow moment

  • Oh totally fair ... Didn't see that on the rules page. I will apply a price drop then :) ... £950 ono

  • Doesn't look like a Colnago to me.
No scroll cut lugs, no concave seatstay caps, no Colnago clover leaf on fork crown.
Might be an outsourced price point frame.

  • We bought it with those specs from a shop and just updated the wheels for rideability. So as far we know it's a Colnago and almost all original parts. The frame might be a paint job I will have to check the frame markings again later :) still a beautiful frame and bike that has been fixed up to be ridden or hung up and look pretty if you wish

  • The only Colnago that I can think of with 3 top tube cable guides was the Sport?

  • Your frame does not appear to be a 70s Colnago as it has none of the characteristics that a 70s Colnago frame should have, some of which have already been mentioned.

This link gives you an idea of what should feature on the frame - http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/Colnago/colnago_dating.htm

Your estimate of it's value is too high IMO.
I would return it to the shop where you bought it from.

  • To be a bit of a pedant your reference doesn't mention 1978 (the year of this bike) and I will be checking the lugs and frame later just so we can all be sure.

Sadly the shop closed up a couple years ago so we cannot return it but am of course considering bringing the price down (gotta start high at least) was just going off a similar styled Colnago bike price seen elsewhere.

Do appreciate the feedback though and hence planning to investigate further...Keep your eyes peeled for updates :)

  • Looks more like a colnago “tribute” shall we say - tributes have been around for ages and some people get stung sadly

  • Gonna jump on the wagon here... 100% not a colnago, And not original parts since they are completely mismatched! Unfortunately it sounds like the shop you bought it from fleeced you, will be lucky to get 1/4 of your asking price

  • £150-£200 sadly is its worth max

  • Colnago decal sets are cheap on EBay.

  • As mentioned above why is it not a Colnago Sport, just curious.

  • Yeah looks a bit like a Colnago sport to me too

  • Colnago sport is basically a sub brand of colnago. I am sure the frames were not built in house

  • Ok I have taken some more pictures of the lug cuts and the front fork and discovered something. I do agree it's probably not a Colnago but in fact Colner as inscribed on the front fork. I will update description accordingly unless someone massively disagrees? I will also research further what price to offer but for now will keep at £950 and anyone can send offers of course :)

  • Here, of all places, you're not going to get that much for it.

  • Colner is inscribed on the headset and not on the fork. Can you take photos of both the front and rear Dropouts without the wheels to check for markings.
Looks like a very cheap frame judging by the thickness of the tubing where the post fits. Sorry for dumping all over your sale but you really need to do some more research before selling.

  • I'm not sure that this is even a Colner as they generally have spade cut outs on the BB and on the lugs, take a look at this link which shows you examples of these identifying features -

    Colner info http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/COLNER.htm

  • Lol, the LFGSS knives are out!

Tbf I love a bit of detective work. No way this is a Colnago, its a very dull looking frame.

  • Never nice being in this sort of situation so whatever it turns out to be GLWS.

  • It could be a Sport or cheap Colner, both were contracted out.
There was also a budget "Ernesto" line but they are very rare.

I used to really want a deluxe Colner with all the panto stuff.

  • it might be Colnago Sport as lugs are what I have seen on couple of them and actually all other bits too.

however - even now I can point you to one in a better condition on original parts where seller asks less than half of £1k

it could be colnago sport but price is over the roof - last one I have seen go on ebay went for around £300 ...
