Excellent bike! AND we have a frame just like that, in the same colour, in archive somewhere.

Finally serviced this 1991 LOOK MI-70 with Shimano Exage 500LX.
Wheels trued, headset & gears adjusted, fully recabled, new 26 x 1.75 tyres, new saddle.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who do away with the top cap.

Kicked a small stone up on a ride yesterday & it seems to have been caught between the brake pad & the rim & taken a chunk out (WTH, I hate gravel now)! Only had these wheels for six months, so is a bit annoying. Any ideas on how I can reduce the sound while riding? Still brakes fine, I guess it will be okay when the rim has worn down to its depth.

I'm vegetarian, so averse to the fish method. Will try the hammer.
Edit: though it probably doesn't involve eating it.

I was thinking about JB weld and some emery cloth to fill in the gap and smooth out the rims, gonna do some more research to find out if this is a terrible ideas.

That sounds like an approach which could work! Was riding with someone with carbon rims/braking surfaces when it happened, she was very glad it didn't happen to her.

If a carbon frame floats, does that make it a duck?

I have these 500EX shifters but one is missing the circled items. What are they called and is it specific to that shifter?

Shimano call it a lever boss cover, and they are pretty agnostic with respect to the levers (assuming Shimano SIS) but there are two curvatures, a small one for 1.125" steel down tubes and a large one for aluminium/oversized.

Surely the top cap is the one above the stem? The one on top?

You'd be surprised how many people get that wrong, even when they are contacting me via my website where the parts are clearly labelled

Bin those cheap hunt things and buy my archetypes. Just think how good they would look with the Ultegra and the red Donohue decals...

So much fun, need to get it into the great outdoors and do some proper riding on it.
Yes awesome and what's that headset ?
