movistar (the company) sell services in Columbia. I think Nairo probably pulls in far more ad revenue than any other rider in their team, and possibly more revenue in Columbia than any other world tour rider could

I think Quintana’s tactics yesterday were aimed at keeping Valverde in the GC picture. It’s pretty common for someone to track an attack then sit on it because they are marking it for their team. There is an alternative of course, that he was on his limit and couldn’t contribute but armchair DS’ never consider that possibility.
Personally I think Quintana should leave Movistar and join a team where he isn’t hamstrung by the conservative nature of the team’s management. I believe he’s out of contract at the end of the season.

Valverde was strugling. I understand he's the local big draw for the team but can't see why they'd ask Quintana to ride defensively in the hope it would help Valverde who showed no chance of regaining contact. But from my Armchair it difficult to know what's being said in the team car/Bus
Be interesting to see what happens then if he's out of contract.
If he were to leave he'd need a strong team to pull him along (If any have space for his salary) and get him into the right positions to perform. Moving to a lesser team and he'd end up like Barguil. -

Bardet and Pinot are at least exciting to watch.
Whilst Nodder Dan is the most exciting. Love watching him race, was shouting at the screen yesterday.

Talking of spent forces, Porte lost seven mins yesterday. I know he started his season late, but...
Trek Segafredo look like a rag tag bunch of misfits this year so far. I can’t see them winning much.

Meanwhile Landa wins today’s stage in the Coppi-Bartali race in Italy, to remind everyone that he’s still a pro cyclist.

While still claiming he can win the TdF?

He's a genuine contender (for 4th or 5th best domestique on the team)

Van Aert blasting past everyone and Sagan on the Taaienberg, looks very impressive. Too bad about Sep's fall, hope he's out of the hospital soon #E3Harelbeke

Sorry to dip into this thread as I don’t follow it and my question may have been addressed earlier, but, Rapha are sponsoring a couple of pro teams this year I’ve just found out on the cycling podcast... did they quit sky because of the doping claims, or was it just the moniiees that got Castelli in on the act?

So, is the Astana team going to be renamed Nur-Sultan, too?

I wonder if they've got any better with that surgery? I looked into it and decided I'd rather just have my leg go numb than do the surgery. I don't earn my £ riding bikes though so clearly different levels of performance-related motivation.

Hope we'll see him in de Ronde! Such a hard racer and nice guy, but he doesn't seem to ever get it together well enough to win a big one
#facepalm Ha! Your post was exactly what I meant!
I read @Carlosvalderama post completely the wrong way (as 'Bardet and Pinot are the least exciting to watch'). I'm going to get a coffee now...
