  • I've never tried the DTHs, but Big Apples are nice.

  • If I have alex rims at470 http://www.alexrims.com/products/at470/ which are described as 'tubeless ready' what do I have to have to run them tubeless? There's already some kind of thing running down the middle, looks like

Is that 'rim tape' ? So Maybe I just need valves and sealant?

  • Weird. Mine felt pretty good right out of the box.

  • That's a good looking bike. Are you London based? I don't think anyone here rides there MTB's as much as they should.

  • i'm not in London, i've always preferred my cross bike in epping anyway. I have no idea where the blokes you see on full 150 enduro bikes round there are riding.

  • Ooh I dunno, there are some seriously big curbs on the way to the tea hut.

  • During a few very slightly sludgy winter rides on my Supersix, I had noticed that the paint and possibly carbon had begun to skedaddle away from the insides of the chainstays.

Sent off some pics to my insurers and they very quickly arranged a specialist company to inspect! Pending a pickup and look from them, I think I might adapt the sunday Supersix bike into something a bit more all-road.

@amey and his CFR-505 is a big point of inspo right now.

  • That's interesting, when I had a B17 champion special it was great from the get go. I'll still keep an eye out for a cheap one to try. Thanks for the full review.

  • that bike doesent disappoint after 2+ years .. did a 200k audax on that on Sunday, amazing bike.

  • I think the DTH is a better looking tyre. They have a habit of becoming impossible to find in a tanwall when you want one though.

  • So we had it explained to us by Cervelo that UCI rules dicatate a minimum of 4mm on each side of the tyre to be be “UCI approved” and that’s how they determine max tyre size. Running tyres with less them 4mm clearance on either side voids warranty.

  • Quick get some 23c tyres on there

  • Record 1"1/8 headset

  • @amey I’m super excited about the prospect - going to go for a custom paint and decal job, think. Probably will stick to non-di2 hydro Ultegra with a 2x chainset and 700C, as I’ve already got a 1x 650b Dynamo touring bike.

Such a good looking frame, been going mad saving stuff on the gram and doing mockups.

@MCamb Courier has picked up the bike already - a roll of the dice what they're going to say about the tyre width, but yeah - hope that it can be classed as 'accidental damage'. Wouldnt go for a warranty claim, just me being a little 'too precise' with clearance.

  • UCI rules

Not strictly UCI regulations, they don't mention tyre clearance. EN14781 does, so either Cervelo are confused, you are, or some UCI commissaire told Cervelo that compliance with EN14781 is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for compliance with UCI regulations.

Running tyres with less them 4mm clearance on either side voids warranty

Hard to argue with that, but remember it applies all round the tyre, not just side to side.

  • @heldring @spotter

I work as courier so first ride was a whole day, second ride was a whole day, etc.

Also this job was the first time I started regularly cycling long days, so may be my bottom breaking in as much as the saddle.

  • so either Cervelo are confused, you are, or some UCI commissaire told Cervelo

Yeah this was told to to us by Cervelo as they denied a warranty claim. It’s been a recurring issue with us, if you look at the drive side of a S bike you can fit a 28 in no problem, it’s a little closer on the ND side. But wheel deflection on climbs causes the tyre to rub on the ND chainstay.
I’m not up on UCI rules, so this could have totally been Cervelo bullshiting us. Lucky for the customer Hot Tubes is local and Toby has a lot of experience with Cervelo’s, his youth development team rides them and he (used to be?) is the only painter in the US who can repaint a Cervelo and have it maintain it’s warranty. He painted the Cervelo Test Team frames 2009-2010.

He ended up plugging the frame and leaving a little dimple where the tyre rubbed. I have pictures somewhere I’ll see if I can find them.

  • That's a good bike IMO

  • CP in build up - Nishiki "Ultra Tour" in NOS. Got almost all parts, just waiting for the Nitto seatpost+Brooks.

Will also get a new wheelset which the LBS is currently building. Similar, but with SP dynamo and the VO Grand Cru hub. Cranks are the clover leaves ones you see, but in 44/28.

Looks like it features a low trail geometry, really curious how it will ride unloaded. And after it is rideable, will have to think about silver or black fenders...

  • looks great so far!
