  • Why not? I thought we held all the cards and it’ll be the easiest deal in history?

  • because they have someone more attractive to them in mind?
is this TM buying support for her deal from hard brexiteers by giving them the opportunity to have one of their own steering the 2nd stage negotiations?

  • Logically thinking, it looks like that would be the conclusion, no?

  • is this TM buying support for her deal from hard brexiteers by giving them the opportunity to have one of their own steering the 2nd stage negotiations?

Yes. Ironically some are arguing that she will have lost the support of remain/soft Brexit Tories who would be worried about a hard Brexiteer taking the reigns!

  • May can’t be removed from Downing Street because of her cat, apparently.

  • Gove now favourite to succeed May.

This was scary before but it's properly terrifying now.

  • Gove's opinions on how the army handled the conflict in NI aren't exactly helpful either... To the extent he makes the DUP looking reasonable.

  • He destroys everything he touches with ideologically driven vigour.

  • Sounds like enough of the ERG still won't back the deal. Its so deliciously ironic that they're the ones most likely to mean we end up staying. If the Beckett amendment passes tonight would it apply to May's deal?

  • Beckett would apply to anything including WA. But it's only indicative, May could try to ignore it.

  • What time does the voting happen? Edit: now, apparently.

  • So, who reckons none of the options will get a majority of the votes?

  • Clarke’s/ Coopers might have a chance...?

  • I’m consumed with a ferocious rage after that pantomime [May in the
    ‘22] ...

What is our liberty for if not to govern ourselves?

Like all of you I have wrestled with my conscience about what to do?

I could tear this place down and bulldoze it into the river.

These fools and knaves and cowards are voting on things they don’t
    even understand.

We’ve been put in this place by people whose addiction to power
without responsibility has led them to put the choice of No Brexit or
    this deal.

I may yet resign the whip than be part of this.

Safe to say that ERG deputy Steve Baker is not on board with MV3...

  • latest...Bill Cash is a fucking twat

  • Doesn't Mays thing mean that these votes are totally pointless? She's going to ignore them and make them vote for her deal regardless.

Presumably she'll use that trick (declaring a new parliament session or whatever) to get around Bercow banning her from doing so.

  • Me. But isn't that partly the point - remove the weak ones, and then have a beauty contest on Monday to see if there is a majority for the stronger ones?

  • Is it just me or does @spotter look like JRM?

    (Sorry jack)

  • The DUP aren't voting for May's deal (assuming it gets put to a third vote).

  • wait... does this mean the DUP are the good guys now?

    i'm so confused.

  • Rees-Mogg will be spinning in his grave.

  • Yeah it's a truly bizarre scenario where remainers are happy with the DUPs stance. Their statement implies there's zero chance of them ever supporting her deal, so chances of No Brexit rising....

  • Getting more likely as the evening progresses?
