Has to be 3/32"...

Anyone actually done this? Tempted, but seems too good to be true...

I did it on the way home on Thursday. It wasn't as awkward as I had expected.
They had very few styles left by that point and had a bag full of old socks. I assume they'll have restocked because it's supposed to be on for a week.

Did it have to he their socks?
How many pairs did you exchange?
-
• #3181
No you just give them any old socks. They probably don't even need to be cycling socks.
I think you are only allowed to do one pair. Unless you want to don a disguise and come back with another pair and email address...

Schwalbe K-Guard winter spike 700c x 30 is £15.99 at chain reaction: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/schwalbe-winter-spike-road-tyre-k-guard/rp-prod118113
I've not used this particular tyre but the 'Marathon' version are great.
-
• #3184
Do you actually use them? I'm guessing you're UK based. I'd imagine there are only a couple of days a year that need a spiked tyre.

I bought them after the 'beast from the east' (cheap ebay deals) and have used them 3 times for my commute since then, all this year. Which basically meant my wife and kid had a car to get about when it was snowy/icy. I imagined I'd use them about 5-8 days a year, which seems fairly minimal, but when you have one car it just gives a bit of peace of mind. On heavy frost and thick ice (commute has a fair bit of it) they're brilliant and being Schwalbe Marathon, I expect them to last forever.

By buying them, you can guarantee the weather remains clement. As has been demonstrated, it was really cold for a while, studded tyres were purchased, and then it's been much nicer. If the whole forum buys these up, it may never snow again.

Didn’t even bother going back to the Barzo’s from the jumbo slicks on the mtb when we had that snow, but definitely will next time - sketchy times. Could do with jumbo spiked 26”, just in case.

There is a complete bike using what I think is the 2016 cdf frame in gold. Just without drop bars but with a front rack. It’s a small though.

A warehouse full of secrets.
Purchased a Vandal for £148.50, now hoping that it slides through customs as I didn't pay the extra £38.87 of taxes that can be prepaid.
In an ideal world, you want it shipped to the US to get an even better price

I really wanted a Rambler but only really keen on black or grey and obviously those are the colours not included
Nice socks, shame about the ribbing
