• That's why people buy the deep sea but it's huge. If you've lived with the Cyclops and don't like it then I can see why you would avoid it. Can't see why it would bother anyone irl. It's like the bezel engraving, I just never notice it when I'm wearing the watch.

    I was under the impression you can get the cyclops removed anyway.

  • It’s definitely just a chip on my shoulder, the Seiko I chose for my 21st birthday and wore for a long time had the dreaded bubble and I scuffed it pretty early on. I found that you had to be square on for it to be legible and then when glancing at the time it was a distraction.

    @Ordinata I think the argument is purely one of myopic legibility, plus I think Rolex invented it so it’s become an identifier.

    Well, the choice was the Sea-Dweller until the most recent model. Less massive than the Deepsea but no cyclops like on the Sub. Until the geniuses at Rolex managed to make the cyclops strong enough for a 4000ft diver, thanks guys!

    It's definitely a Rolex signature thing now. Always looks like it would be super distracting to me but I've never owned one so I don't know.
