Ah ha, yep and the smaller pre-maxi size case/dial/hands. It’s a cool piece.

What is it?
Almost looks like a stargate.

Thanks. I've never seen them side by side before, I may be biased but much prefer the older one

It's beautiful, shame you have to part with it...

cheers, I'm trying not to think about it. However if this sells I won't have to (but I'm not hopeful, boat not child)

I don't know much so far, except this:
Seiko Automatic Made in Japan 7002-700LR -
• #34184
Yeah, it’s generally just known as the 7002:

The quartz version, the 7548, is better known.

Consider your average sandwich bag, then jam it full of parts, and that’s what I now have to sift through. Will it be worth £££ to anyone as a job lot, or shall I cherrypick the Omega/Rolex/etc parts to list on ebay?

Spotted this elsewhere on the forum:

Right, I have had a sort through. Are any of these parts of use to people on here? I will gladly sell to a forumer for a big chunk less than retail (ebay/wherever) value. If nobody is interested will offer on Omegaforums then off to the auction site.

I chose between those when I bought mine. The new one was just available and the old one was still in some shops. I went for the new one, it's a beautiful watch to wear and own but I added the smaller case dateless sub to scratch the itch and the older case is a thing of beauty. I like the fat face though, the ceramic bezel doesn't do much for me though. Bracelet is a much more solid item on the newer cases.

If only you spent more time using and looking at the bracelet it would be reason alone to get a new one, amazing engineering. The problem with me and Rolex is I genuinely use the date function but I don’t get on with the cyclops which really limits my choice. A saw a Sub for sale today with the glass replaced, looked great!

That's why people buy the deep sea but it's huge. If you've lived with the Cyclops and don't like it then I can see why you would avoid it. Can't see why it would bother anyone irl. It's like the bezel engraving, I just never notice it when I'm wearing the watch.
I was under the impression you can get the cyclops removed anyway.

JDM Seiko Samurai PADI popped up locally for good money.
Have seen a few reviews but they seem biased, what's the bracelet like on em?

Raises a v interesting point. (Cyclops)
Why? Perfectly legible date without.

It’s definitely just a chip on my shoulder, the Seiko I chose for my 21st birthday and wore for a long time had the dreaded bubble and I scuffed it pretty early on. I found that you had to be square on for it to be legible and then when glancing at the time it was a distraction.
@Ordinata I think the argument is purely one of myopic legibility, plus I think Rolex invented it so it’s become an identifier.

I'd agree, my Hydronaut has a date bubble and it makes it harder to see the date. It looks OK straight on, otherwise it's just a random blob on the front.

That's why people buy the deep sea but it's huge.
Well, the choice was the Sea-Dweller until the most recent model. Less massive than the Deepsea but no cyclops like on the Sub. Until the geniuses at Rolex managed to make the cyclops strong enough for a 4000ft diver, thanks guys!
It's definitely a Rolex signature thing now. Always looks like it would be super distracting to me but I've never owned one so I don't know.

Bracelet is comparable to the one on the turtle, so it's tough and very serviceable but a bit rattly. Doesn't have the ugly polished stripes. Solid end links, which is a big plus, but the folding clasp is all stamped (on the higher/mid-range 6R15 Prospex divers the two inner plates are machined).
