  • Honda Jazz.

    Excellent shout.

I'd bet insurance would be low.

  • Have a look and see what classifies as s classic. It would certainly keep insurance low, but you may need the use of another car.

  • My brother (he is 6ft4”) has a 1.4 manual and gets 50mpg on the motorway. My dad has a 1.4 auto and gets 40mpg+.

The back seats fold completely flat so the boot space is huge. Good for bikes, ikea trips etc.

Cheap tax as well, as they are all 1.2 or 1.4 engines. Can pick them up for less than £1500 for a 2003-2006 year. Tend to be owned by older people so usually 1 or 2 owner cars. Lower mileage.

Only thing is I don’t think cruise control was ever an option.

  • ...in my new quest to find something AWD + "special" for the short off road drive of the new house - i'm getting quite disillusioned with the Golf R32's out there (mostly being modded or rough as sandpaper and dodgy history) - GTi's seem better cared for, for some reason, but dont like the lack of power and non-awd.....

Thinking about left field Mitsubishi AirTrek Turbo S - EVO engine + AWD + SUV"ish" but smaller footprint than an estate....a few nice tuning bits are around....however hardly any around for sale....

it may end up being an audi TTRS with bike carrier .....

  • ... and the Yeti does qualify as "special" in the looks department.

Serious question though, could you not surface the drive?

  • ah i see the confusion i have caused.........
    1) when i mean off road - i dont mean like in the pic above, i mean its a really really small driveway thats just off a road hence i can have NO overhang so the car has to fit :-)
    2) i still prefer AWD as it is out in the countryside anyway with lots of single track, but it doesnt need to be an out an out 4x4.....

  • I was joking.

    I wouldn't seriously suggest a Yeti to someone who wants a R32.

Have you had a look at Audi? Is there a quatro S3/A3 sportsback l? Or even just different tyres now I'm thinking about it.

  • Would 3rd the suggestion of the Jazz. Incredibly well designed small car that was built to feel like a quality item. Would highly recommend.

  • You can get a crazy amount of stuff in the back of a Jazz with the seats down.

  • I think i might have found something to fit the bill....

    Mercedes-Benz M Class 6.3 ML63 AMG 7G-Tronic 5dr..............although
    Fuel consumption (urban)11.7 mpg
    Fuel consumption (extra urban)23.2 mpg
    Fuel consumption (combined)17.1 mpg
    OUCH!!!

  • Now that is vulgar!

  • mate, that looks like a qashqaiii

  • i suspect its too long anyway for the drive :-/

  • I'd prefer the Nissan Kumquat to be honest

  • @anthonyj you can buy my defender if you fancy it - i'm going '65 bob dylan.

  • Yay, I broke the engine in the MG again.

One of the cylinders has a clean-snapped follower and a push rod with a missing end cap which is also bent. Not sure at all what has caused this menagerie of misfortune.

  • Rover innit. :oP

  • V8 is the only option

  • You guys

  • You don't see one of these every day.
