noob - can I use a track crankset as single chainring gear crank?

Hi,

I've got a blb track pista crankset laying around and I want to convert my crosscheck to single chainring. Can I use that crank?

The chainring will be for a single speed chain which is too wide for a cassette. You could find a 3/32” chainring which would work up to 8 speed.

Worth checking if the existing chainring is 1/8" or 3/32" before buying a new one - 1/8" is the more common track width, but plenty of single speed setups come with 3/32" as standard. It should say on the chainring.
