Better late than never...
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Superb.
And, as an introvert currently going through something of a break up with someone who overlaps the MPDG cliché, then a little unsettling...

Just got back from seeing “Us”.
Kinda liked Get Out, but almost hated this.
Movie did nothing to me, even in most dramatic and suspenseful moments, my heart rate didn’t change.
Enjoyed the music and some of the acting though. Don’t need to see ever again.

Jordan Peele's 'Us'. Good, not fantastic. Didn't make me sweat like Get Out did. Same funny scary vibe though. Lupita Nyong'o is really good. Music was also really good. Liked the camera work. Ultimately, kind of annoyed it but I don't wanna spoil anything.

This is great. Gives nothing away. Just a piece of music from one of the opening scenes: https://open.spotify.com/track/0PGBKBh0FFvtx1XqwdUbBG?si=WJU7cEONQSWZgDx671jOLA

Strangely enough, I also caught Ice & Palms last week during the BANFF film festival. Thoroughly enjoyed it too.

US.
Was a little of a rollercoaster and felt very choppy in places, when you thought things had made a logical progression they seemed to change direction.
The jury is still out for me as to whether I enjoyed it more than Get out. Although there seems to be a lot more conversation about this film and the potential backstories, which I'm really enjoying!

Enjoying that!
Also 5 on it - the end version. Woah.

The Mule was very Eastwoody, I quite liked it, although not as much as the old man and the gun, which is a similar grey crime vibe but more fun.

I thought US was great, kept me gripped all the way through and what an excellent ending, I want to see it again. It certainly lived up to the high bar set by Get Out

Just saw" London" (currently on Amazon Prime/ BFI Player).
https://www.bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/news-bfi/interviews/patrick-keiller-london-robinson-trilogyWas expecting to be amazed at how things have changed in the past 27 years. But the main sense was that the issues and problems we think of today (of London being carved up and exploited by big corporations, foreign interests etc) were exactly the same then. Really eerie feeling to get a sense that resistance to all this has been quietly suppressed for so long.
Visually, London appears emptier, quieter and, weirdly, cleaner (apart from some buildings/ monuments etc covered in black pollution). I had also forgotten that bombings were an almost daily occurrence.

One of my favourite films of all time. In my opinion the rest of the trilogy is less and less good. When Robinson in Ruins came out I went to a triple bill at the Rio. Even with interval breaks to get snacks and drinks it was seriously challenging to stay in anyway focused for the new release. I may have dozed off...
I think London did change, and then circled back. I remember showing it to a group of youngsters in 2010 and it seemed very resonant then too.

Watched "Glass" last night.
The trailer looked a lot more appealing, than the whole movie. Maybe it's some references, that I didn't get, but I definitely won't be watching it again.

Joker? The trailer intrigued me somewhat. I'm looking forward to seeing what Phoenix can do with the role.
