  • Always Nitto if its an option.

  • Always Nitto if its an option.

Balls! I looked for a Nitto inline, clearly I can't use the internet as i couldn't find anything available in UK... Just googled Nitto 92 and hub hub have them! Nothing wrong with the Thompson I bought but really wanted to match the Nitto stem... Argh!

  • Built my brother his first road bike a couple of weeks ago, mainly to be used for commuting in and out to work everyday.

Everything was bought cheaply or from the parts bin but seems to be working fairly well for a budget build.

Now just have to finish my own roadie so we can get some distance in together!!

  • is this frame dead? :(

Bit of wheel rub that seems to have gone slightly into the carbon.

  • Should be ok, looks like its only really gone through paint and lacquer. If your really unsure send it to a carbon repair specialist and they'll assess/fix it if needs be

  • Tester bearing cover fitted.

  • As said earlier, I needed a functionnal bike. Pretty much like a kind of car...

Still needs some bits and bobs (better crankset, new chain and mudgards' flap.) but more importantly a front rack and decent brake levers.

It does ride like a Harley Davidson's though ! Lovely!

  • I miss my canti bikes.

  • collected a groupset last night for a bike I'm building for a friend. The seller then added that I could take frame/fork for nothing (parts attached - it's a Trek Madone) - only prob is the gear hanger has snapped off. Looks great otherwise. Wondering if it's repairable, or maybe has a future as a singlespeed/magic gear...

Snapped off dérailleurs are bread and butter to a carbon frame repair shop

  • Ah ok that's good to know. Thanks for the reply.

Might be worth looking into a repair then as the frame itself isn't too bad

  • Aren't these designed to snap off? Is there a shot of the inside of the dropout? There should be a screw or two which holds the rest of the RD hanger onto the frame.

  • @coventry_eagle

You're right, but the hanger has snapped taking one screw and some carbon with it (check out pic 3 and how shallow the dropout is compared with NDS - do you see the bit I'm holding with the screw in it?

Have contacted https://carbonbikerepair.co.uk for a quote

  • Doesn't look terminal and definitely worth getting a quote to see how much it'll cost to fix!

  • TBH I haven't much motivation to sort out sending frames off etc may just sell on dirt cheap and try to recoup some money spent on the group

Be interesting to see what they come up with though

  • Repairs (from ^^^) are too spendy for this! £310+vat for repair alone. Paint costs on top. Not sure it's worth shopping around for other quotes

  • What's the hive opinion for cable colours for this? It'll no doubt have black bar tape, so black? Seems the obvious choice, but I keep toying with the idea of white.

    (pretty paint btw)

  • Aye..tbf not into carbon frames! It's getting sold as is I reckon

I have a restored Ribble 853 you might be into actually! Will get a picture at some point as I've almost finished it

We had this happen on a customers Cervelo,it was sent off to Hot Tubes and they inserted a carbon plug into the frame and it’s been a-ok
