How much does it cost to extend a steel fork steerer?

£16.29 +dental bills and very uglyEdited following belowOtherwise machining up an internal sleeve and bonding it to the current steerer, but almost certainly significantly more expensive than buying a new fork.

That BBB extender works perfectly and is invisible in use, it's just heavy.

I think the sturmey ones are supposed to be pretty decent for the money.

Is there a Getty Images equivalent for retail customers? i.e. I'm looking for old photos of bands as below, but GI do commercial licences, rather than getting a copy for your wall.

Hmmmmmm. Really tough. Not sure that the cleaning regime has helped - it may have caused the dye to come to the surface, especially with the washing machine trick.
Don’t wash it any warmer as you’ll be damaging the leather and for sure the dye will bleed out.
If it’s still rubbing off them do a solid and thorough clean with proper saddle soap, remove everything you’ve been trying to apply. Wait for it to dry and scrub again, and again. Let it dry each time. You don’t really want much temperature.
I’d consider whether a good carnauba wax would be better for giving a solid seal to the leather.
Not sure why it’s happening, probably (bad) dyeing/tanning without enough treatment after. Some industrial processes are more permanent than others, and it’s not uncommon for some colour transfer especially if it was a more traditional method.
There’s no guarantee anything you put on top will stick, because it may be sitting on top of another chemical. I’d sooner saddle soap the hell out of it, it may be too big to try isopropyl alcohol to strip the surface before treating again.
By the way, applying the wax you really want a polishing wheel to get it into the leather and remove all the excess. Some older Timpsons still have a neutral wheel alongside the brown and black. It is incredibly high speed so it will really polish up the surface better.

It is incredibly high speed

Pretty much. You don’t wanna get your wang trapped in it.

Thanks for the input. That's really helpful.
Just to be clear the hair dryer was only once the bag was dry.
Figure as I'm asking, do you know where to get saddle soap cheap? I guess an equestrian site? I'm not mad on wasting more of my little tub of Saphir soap on what is almost an A3 size bag.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a 32gb USB 3.0 memory stick? Just need something decent and reasonably quick that will permanently live in a CPU.
There are so many and for the most part they list the potential maximum speed, not actual speeds.
This https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Extreme-Solid-State-Flash/dp/B01MU8TZRV/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1553180702&sr=8-1&keywords=SanDisk+SDCZ880+Solid+State+Flash+Drive
is a bit pricey.Ideally:
- decent reliable brand / quality
- sub-£20
- ~100mbp read/write
edit: this looks like a good option I guess: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FD3GX4G/ref=twister_B07NCZKDYL?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
- decent reliable brand / quality

Work trip to Cologne coming up. Schedule is not too busy so will have free time for a bit of brekkie in cafés and stuff. Is there a particularly nice neighbourhood in Cologne I should know about?
Also, feel free to suggest the odd bar and eatery for the evening. I vaguely recall that central Cologne can feel a bit mainstream. -

I wish! just wondering why they seem so expensive over a "normal" laptop...... i like the appeal of a light tablet with keyboard if needed........

What's the best reasonably affordable domain/email/web hosting solution these days? I've been doing enough freelance work recently that I'd like to set up email forwarding and a portfolio site at least, but haven't done webby stuff for the best part of a decade, so idiot-proof and low-maintenance would be best...

I'm an idiot, and I managed to host a (secure) static site on Amazon S3 and write the HTML myself as a kind of learning experience. Hosted with Gandi. It works (just) and costs about £20 a year for all of it.

My recent research says Gold Label is less than a tenner for half a kilo.

I use Gandi. Seems decent and pretty cheap.

I have a Surface Go (the 10" version) and have used the full sized version and they're fine. Works like any other laptop but with added bonus of touchscreen and detachable screen for media consumption (although it's not the lightest for a tablet, you wouldn't want to be holding it for a long time).
Construction is very good, feels like a premium device. The only issue is that the keyboard isn't as good as a proper one. It's fine to use and you get used to it but it just doesn't feel as nice.
If you're looking at the Pro 3 then I'd be looking at i5/8GB as a minimum. Also, I have a feeling that the battery life isn't amazing so you may want to check that.
