for me the problem is that that one 5k run is could easily be 50k, and your £20 off the retail price is suddenly not such a great deal, given you were complaining upthread about a pair of shoes with not many miles on having worn through is evidence you've been sold a bit of a porky pie in the past...
fair point about poor conditions of manufacturing and not wanting to create waste though.
It's a fair point about that last pair - I'm kind of amazed it happened as they literally looked unworn when they arrived. My gaffa tape fix is enough for a comfortable 10k, so they might just be my short and fast shoes for now.
