  • 100% off.
    But twice asking price.

  • If I was a betting man, or more competitive with my ex, I'd have waited. But I'm glad the house-transfer/buying shenanigans are done and dusted before the end of the month...

  • You can do a vote of no confidence in the management as a collective if you feel you could find a management team to better use the ground rent.
Often they rip people off and people don't blink an eye lid and they prey on the fact that people cannot be bother with the hassle of changing...and it is a hassle..whether it's worth it or effective in the end, is anyone guess. I don't know anyone that's actually done it.

  • Right now, our completion date is set for March 29th...

  • We've sold our flat and are living with family until we buy a house. Had an offer accepted but probably won't be in before May.

  • Cross post, but someone may be interested here I'm selling a dining table (Nathan) and four chairs (2x Nathan 2x Gplan) for cheaps.

  • Builder for quotes needed.
    Se London.

    Bathroom floor tiling.
    Boxing off some pipe work.

    And an insurance job quote.
    Ta.

  • Sounds like diy job...

  • You're welcome to come round DIY for me

I'll buy you some gels and a trisuit.

  • I'm getting a new front door, what are the considerations for locks?

  • If you can, spend money on a London bar and a Birmingham bar for the door frame, they will make it considerably harder to kick a door in

  • I'm getting a new front door, what are the considerations for locks?

Are you in a 'door gets kicked in regularly' area?

  • I think I won't thanks.

  • I'm thinking a hardwood door, night latch and mortice lock.

  • What colour?

  • hague blue or why bother.

  • blueishgrey I think.

  • amends list

  • of people with cool front doors?

  • I'm a freeholder but I need a lease extension. Have been quoted £750+VAT by two different solicitors. Wondering if this is reasonable or whether I should expect cheaper?

It's a ground-floor flat in a Victorian house conversion. We co-own the freehold with the owner of the upstairs flat. There are 67 years remaining on our lease, which (bizarrely) could still cause problems if/when we come to sell.

Anyone got any good solicitor recommendations?

  • Get a multi-point lock like you get on PVC doors (can be fitted to hardwood one too).

Get a good Eurolock cylinder, I'd recommend Mul-T-Lock. You can only get the keys cut on presentation of the security card and they are pretty anti-tamper proof.

    And three 'anti lift' hinges.

  • Didn't @aggi have the same conundrum?

  • I did (in fact I'm in the upstairs flat in a Victorian House conversion with 67 remaining years on the lease which seems a bit of a coincidence!).

Those I spoke to were in the range of £500 + VAT and fees (per flat). Annoyingly they don't discount for multiple flats even though the work is nearly identical.
