• I see Liam Fox announcing trade deals agreed (carry overs) with Norway and Iceland are worth 30bn, but i can only see c.6bn of exports to there from the UK. Have I missed something in this “major milestone”? Can't see the "with Liechtenstein and Switzerland, it accounts for close to half of the trade we’re seeking continuity for" amounts to c140bn (half the 274bn export 2017 figures I can find.)

  • My guess is that the difference in import/export numbers reflects UK consumption of Norwegian gas and Icelandic fish in pretty significant quantities. The relatively lower figure for exports isn't because Icelandics and Norwegians don't like UK products, it's just that with a total of just over 5 million people theres a limit to how much UK output they are able to absorb.
