  • I just did something silly but also good. Good bit is that I put a deposit on a caad12 disc ultegra. LBS had a 54cm in there, on sale for $2100 aud. (£1120!) Couldn't say no. Set up to my spec I had 110mm seat post out. Felt fine but would like more standover. Reach was fine.

But, got home and reading the Geo charts closely I reckon I could get away with a 52cm with a -15mm setback post and slightly longer stem. To get the same fit as the 54.

    Is this a stupid plan?

    And yes, internet bike fit.

  • Due to the pretty level top tube, the Caads tend to have higher stand over requirements for each size.
I had a 48 caad and super six and both of those worried me with stand over height compared to other bikes.

  • i have a 54cm CAAD12 disc, it has a 57cm seat tube, which is fine for me as i normally have loads of seatpost hanging out. Also worth noting if it has the Shimano RS685 hydraulic shifters they are 10mm longer than a cable brake version, i have to run a shorter stem to account for that.

The 52cm isn't actually much smaller in terms of reach but it has less stack so bear that in mind.
