Will do! It's filthy at the minute; it (and the ranger) are great for winter as they're genuinely water / mud proof.
I picked up a Dark Impact kit for really cheap off ebay a while back. It's not as cool as all the 80's / 90's cars , but it's really fast and so far fairly bomb proof.

Well another year has passed. Down to the Sussex Coast for annual festivities. Also popped over to Hove Lagoon to give the Hypercat a run out. Mill Pond smooth and sat at a beautiful attitude on the plane. Reckon I touched on 50mph. GPS says different. Burnt another motor out in the process. π

What is the cheapest you can buy an electric rc that's fast and can be driven around a garden / relatively abused?
Speed over authenticity / replica accuracy.

WLtoys A959 seem pretty popular? They're a ready to run and about 50 quid from ebay, but still hop up'able.
There's various videos of them on youtube, and they're a smaller scale so might suit a garden better.
Otherwise maybe some Traxxas car? I'm not familiar on what's a good one though.

Cheers.
Will have a look. Might be a while before I get one (well two) but one can dream.
Banggood had some cool trucks, but further investigation looked like they were "crawlers"(I think is the term?)
-

I keep thinking about getting a crawler - but I know of get fed up with something so slow and start jumping it off things :)
-
• #309
I literally just want something I can rag around a really big garden and turfed field. Maybe make some small jumps. It would probably only get used a few times a year.
I get the challenge of a crawler, but it doesn't appeal and I don't have the time. It's a bit like those awesome drift cars (I'd love an e30 M3), but when and where would I ever use it? Whereas something fast and off-roadable should get a bit more use.
Someone on ebay sells a Toyota Tacoma body shell that goes on the A979(? The pickupy looking one). So that looks perfect. As I'm not made on the aesthetics, but both the 979 and 959 variations look spot on so cheers for that.
There seem to be tonnes of "upgrades". So spares as plastic parts break should be easy.

I've got an old Audi A4 ta03f and a built but never used Tamiya BMW M3 Schnitzer chassis that I will never use again.
Any interest from LFGSSers?
I think I've also got a brand new bodyshell kit for the BMW too.

And the M3.
The white wheels have yellowed (not mellowed) with age.
Brand new body shell in the box underneath along with the bits for the one on top

Right. Trouble with these is that the boxing is so good you just donβt want to start them...

Childhood bucket list item there :)
I actually bought one from Japan a few years back too - it's a fantastically looking thing when built. It goes without saying that none of my kid's friends are allowed a go!
You keeping it box-art? What motor?

Every Christmas I find myself checking out older Tamiya models on line and today this pops up, Egress looks like a great choice.
I know fully what you mean about the packaging, Tamiya really nailed it with the designs. For full nostalgia experience I've been looking for a nice independent model shop for my first proper purchase. Sadly 25 years on the Avante is still way out of reach!

Anyone want a 90s BMW M3?
got a built body, tt01 i think, and a painted shell, amd also a spare unpainted shell.
the shells are modern, but i painted the first one with clear windows.
I have no use for them at all, and there is also no way in the world i am letting my twins anywhere near them

Temptation would be to keep that Egress mint. π

6 years! Congratulations:)

I could totally splurge on one of these just for the fun of building it. No idea where or when I'd use it though, which would be a bit pointless.

If you're anywhere near Crystal Palace they have an outdoor track around the back of the sports centre. Makes @doubleodavey's M3 tempting as I'm local.
@christianSpaceman Yes I saw! It added to my temptation, I managed to keep resisting despite spending the morning watching Tamiya promo videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIoSTwWXENQ
When you next have it running take a quick photo to see how it looks now....
