I'm having a real hard time to decide if I need mid cage(28 to 36 cassette) or long cage(36 to 42?). Ideally I'd use a 42 chainring and have a big cassette on the off-road wheelset and a smaller one on the road (and cross race) wheelset
Check the sprocket capacity of both of those. Cage length doesn't change how big of a cog it can fit under (on its own)
