  • It looks very Jaques Lemans

  • I had a look at some of these fakes online and I wouldn't really say they're cheap enough to want to buy.

Most seemed to be in the $300-$500 range which is a bit steep for something you'd acknowledge to be a fake.

  • Not sure that this even resembles a production Rolex of any kind.

That's something I never get. In the Internet age why/how do you produce a fake, that appart from anything else is clearly a fake because no real one's exist?

All that said, I do genuinely like that watch.

  • Yeah, but for those who are really desperate to impress people or act like something they're not, $350 is a lot less than $9000...

  • All that said, I do genuinely like that watch.

I have an ugly Jaques Lemans, you can buy cheap. Needs a new battery though. :)

  • Does the Smiths Everest Explorer have the same size dial as a 1016? Thinking about getting one then throwing a replica 1016 dial in it... It'll do me until I get a real one, obvs...

In fact, a Space Dweller dial would be even better, to guarantee that people know it isn't real... 😎

  • Starting to think the bracelet might be the best thing about that.

  • Seiko making a reissue of the SUS 4S15 field watch… quartz, 35mm. Looks like it might only be available in certain stores in Japan but I'm not sure what the deal is exactly.

(whole dial is lumed on that ^ one)

    Quite into this one:

    £150-200ish I think.

  • They’re nice right? Mechanical would have been extra cool but I think these actually look better than the original for not having the wonky date window.

  • TZ says their dial is 30.0mm x 28.0mm. I might have my rumours mixed up but word is a possible Mk2 might have the hand lengths properly sorted, the (nicer IMO) SmithS logo, a tapered bracelet and a slimmer clasp… which could sway my vote. Or, those tweaks could be reserved for the upcoming white dial, nobody knows.

  • Would be great if I could get this dial and hands to talk to that case and movement, I'd ditch the bracelet immediately, not a fan of that clasp...

  • Is that a GMT as it has two timezone ability?

  • I know people say the clasp is too thick but once you wear it for a few days it suddenly makes sense. It's comfy as fuck and balances the watch perfectly. On the 40mm at least.

There is a rumour that Time factors are going to offer a different bracelet at some point too, with a normal non adjustable clasp. You could also swap out the clasp itself fairly easily. It's a bracelet worth keeping in terms of quality.

  • Mr Timefactors has said that the next batch of black-dial 36mm Everests (as well as both of the forthcoming white-dial variants) will have rivet oyster bracelets which taper from 20mm to 16mm, and have a normal style clasp. This bracelet will also be available separately for owners of the first batch.

Seen here on the non-1016 white dial variant:

  • Good knowledge. Personally I think the bracelet and clasp is perfect on the 40mm. Can see that it's way too big on a 36 though.

  • Never quite understood the appeal of rivets on something as smooth as an Oyster bracelet.

  • Even on the 36 it's fine; after a while you stop noticing it. I may be tempted by a rivet bracelet as and when, mind (and I'd have preferred the SmithS logo, but not enough to go through the faff of flipping it/buying another if there is a mk.2).

  • I guess the advice should be don't knock it until you've worn it.

  • No, the bottom dial is the seconds hand.

    Bit daft really!

  • Same here. Thought I wouldn't like the clasp on my 36 and was all set to replace it with a strap before I even got it. But I've put it on and forgotten about it. Also, quite like fidgeting with the micro adjust while i'm working.

  • ‘40s Omega bumper today
