  • dude you have to see The Master, Don't worry he won't get far on foot and Irrational Man. but he is pretty amazing in all things. I love inherent vice. and really looking forward to the sisters brothers coming out soon

  • Thanks will check those out!

  • I really like him, super intense to the point of silliness at times, but still good...

  • Also check out ‘her’

  • Skyfall.........the worst Bond ever. (despite getting to M's computer and blowing the shi* out of MI6 from it, mr Villan still misses her with a handgun at close range which he has to do for some reason)

  • bond has been shit since roger moore packed it in.

  • very much this

  • Inherent Vice is actually PTA's best film, go watch it again. Also it's spelled "Joaquin".

  • My oldest mate is called Joaquín, which got abbreviated to Quack... He didn't mind back then, hates it now... Another mate used to go out with Joaquin Phoenix's sister, Rainbow... #csb

  • Goldeneye was ok..........?

  • yes it was. but the game on the N64 even better

  • this is pretty much the only bond scene anyone needs to see the rest you can take or leave.

  • Re. Joaquin Phoenix, Buffalo Soldiers is worth a watch.

  • Tomorrow Never Dies is worse than Skyfall.

  • Captain Marvel - slow start but gets better as it goes along. Brie Larson is a good fit for the character, Jude Law is annoying (unintentionally well cast I thought), Ben Mendelsohn is excellent. It's a good story but the film is a bit all over the place.

Peterloo - worthy but they reeeaaallllly stretch it out to the point of dullsville. Black 47 is how this type of movie should be made.

  • Watched The Cabin In The Woods for second time.

So incredibly clever and once you know the twist, you notice even more details and it gets even better.

  • Forgot to post about this last week when I saw it but Apollo 11 at the IMAX. Oh my goodness. Incredible. When it hits the U.K., see it. You won’t regret it if you have any interest in space/1960s/Apollo missions. Ridiculously good. My jaw was on the floor the whole time.

  • Holmes & Watson - why was this even made?

  • I saw Captain Marvel just. I don't know how to feel about these woke films made by massive corporations (see also Black Panther). On the one hand it's great that they have plenty of normal female characters, and maybe there are small girls watching it who feel empowered or whatever, but they leave me with the uneasy feeling that important political things that people believe in are being monetised and exploited. And I'm 99.9% sure that those political themes are only present in the film because they make money, not because any executive at Marvel gives a flying fuck about them.

The film itself is standard Marvel tripe - her witty/sarcastic personality is transplanted directly from any other Marvel character - okay if you're into that and like looking at planets and things blowing up and whatnot (which I do from time to time).

Someone tell me how to feel please.

  • Bored? That's how I feel about Marvel at the moment. So many films telling virtually the same story.

  • A sudden hush descends on the film thread, as everyone, almost as one, realises that the whole Bond franchise is just a bit shit...

  • It's important to have strong female/black/minority role models in big things, only partiality for the female/black/minority kids, as they're probably being fully told about all the awesome roll models that exist for them. But if all the future old white men grow up on a diet of awesome female/black/minority heroes then hopefully they won't become old white cunts.

  • Won't someone think of the white men?

  • I get that angle. But what's worse, under-representation of minorities or out-of-control corporate capitalism? It's good to see the characters on screen, but we all know the hundreds of billions generated by these films goes straight into the pockets of yet more Old White Cunts. And they probably donate a bunch of it to Trump.

My impression of Stan Lee was that he was an alright guy but I don't know anything about the rest of them. I need to find some research on the topic, only then will I be able to decide if I liked the film or not
