I agree with you.
If you have a suggestion for a thing like that reMarkable one (big, nice on the eyes, preferably white) but "read only", without the nice but un-needed (and expensive) ability to write / sketch on it then please share. Ta.

There's the Kindle DX. Was discontinued a number of years ago but you can pick them up on ebay from the US.

You can get a complete reader for the price of a synthetic fabric sleeve.
Functionality does look impressive though but screw the price and those replaceable nibs
