  • I'm not religious, but. Britain is traditionally a Christian country. It's pretty fucking ironic that Shamima Begum was directly asking for forgiveness from Britain. What happened to Cameron's 'British values'?

    One of those was "respecting and upholding the rule of law".

    Dispite all the logical arguments I can put for/against revoking her citizenship, my gut feeling was always "it's just not British".

    I'm not religious either, but growing up my general moral references, schooling, etc. have been Anglican Christian which has probably heavily impacted my views.

    But I guess different people place different weight on their cultural values...and it looks like revenge and venom are what most people believe being British means.

  • I was very sad to read about the baby passing away.
    and echo what has been said, yes she made.a hugely stupid decision to go out there when she was 15....15! It's another shameful act by the government that has cost the life of a baby who could have been saved.

    I was surprised that she wasn't brought back in the interest of home securtiy as pushing her away just makes her a propaganda dream for Isis.
