What time is it? Watches and horology

My wife is looking for a new watch, perhaps someone can help recommend one.

Requirements:

• male dress watch, but not too large
  
• a white/cream face and classic design
  
• highly readable (hand contrast against face good, numerals easy to read, etc)
  
• leather strap, ideally brown
  
• budget of up to £500 (so quartz acceptable)
  
• durable enough to take some knocks (occasionally gets thrown into her rucksack)
