Here's John's Bill Build; my 1975 Bill Philbrook touring frameset currently being readied for the coming spring and summer. The original paint had gone matt after years of storage so I had it repainted in Ford Arizona Gold - Dad had a Granada in this colour. Frame built lugless with this unusual hybrid headtube/headset treatment, and built for direct mount Mafac cantilevers and one set of non-invasive (Philbrook trademark) bottle bosses.
Hope you like it: Philbrooks are few in number.
John

Looks great. This is pretty much how I envisage my Long Harry turning out. What child seat is that, off a buggy? I was originally going to bolt up a car seat but I want a pull over rain cover/canopy like that.

Nice! It's like a British (and nicer) version of a Peugeot PY10. AFAIK the Mafac brakes used were regular ones without the rear element, not a separate version per se. Either way they're not "direct mount" though (sorry for being anal). Looking forward to see it build!

That's pretty nice. Great colour too!

It's just a 2nd hand seat from a stroller. Helps with the sun and rain but the kid will still get wet though which is not a big deal. Cheap and easy solution if you wanna strap in on and remove it later. I'm at work but can send you a pic of a more elegant solution I've seen online when I get home.
Edit: or you can just read post #32 in the mom/dad-mobiles thread. -

Brilliant, cheers for that.

Drops were a bit pointless and boring for a bike I never used outside the city. The Di2 was getting bashed up so I popped on a flat bar tiagra groupset I had sitting. The hope freehub was starting to really piss me off so put on the much heavier Halo wheels. Finally the jack brown tyres were a bit crap so I put on some cheap contis.
I still don't really like it

@coventry_eagle Had compacts in 31.8, now these are all 26 bars, so I wanna try sth else instead of Deda Piega..
@withered_preacher this, but since my knee is still not fit, it needs to look good as well.
I will need to man up and buy some Nitto m186...

Shouldn't it be a Dart on the front?
2018 was a good bike year. I managed to get my dream cargo bike and full sus mtb and thus, once again tried persuading myself that my bike collection was complete. Ha, what an idiot, of course you need more bikes. Who doesn't? All it took was a few sunny days and I got the itch again after finding a POS hybrid bike minus wheels in the trash. Forks, triple crankset, bb and pretty much everything else besides the frame made their way back to the trash bin. Steadily hoarding components meant that I only needed to buy a cassette, NW chainring and some cheap tyres because my 2.35's rub on the fork. It'll get finished in a couple of weeks when components arrive and if I get on with it I'll paint it. For some reason building up shit bikes I basically don't need makes me extremely happy.
