Yeah I'm not sure I followed the logic, especially given the suggested alternatives.
But at the end of the day it's up to people to choose how they want their race descriped, so I guess if I need to reference it I'll use one of the other terms from now on:
They advise alternatives including "mixed parentage" and "dual heritage".
Better knowledge about the history of segregation would help with these awkward moments. Some posh actor with a silly name did it recently too.
