Yep, what do you need to know?
-
• #8903
Is there a Perm version? If not, any thoughts about doing it as an overnight DIY?
-
• #8904
No perm for it I just submit as DIY, not much opportunity for supply at night but doable if you carry enough.
The route controls as I submitted them for DIY are : Greenwich, Ebbsfleet, Edenbridge, Forest Row, Laughton, Seaford, Crowborough, Bexhill, Tunbridge Wells, Ide Hill, Greenwich.

Why don't they piss off and stick to writing about cars?

• #8907
That's the sort of inclusive attitude we're after!

Auduaxers - Does anyone know if I will be turned away from the Cambridge Pork Pie 200k for not having mudguards?
-
• #8909
Cambridge Audax site suggests requested but not mandatory. First time for me this year so can't say for sure but looks like you're good to go without!
-
• #8910
No, will be fine.

The National 24hr TT gets points though, so their own rules are a bit iffy.
You get points from the 24 for two reasons:
a) It's a nod to history as the 24 used to be the only way for Brits to qualify for PBP prior to Audax UK being set up.
b) About 15 years ago the numbers entering 24 were declining to the point that they might stop being put on. By allocating AUK points for the ride it got a fair number of extra AUKs interested in riding it. There's at least 20 each year usually.
Another way of putting it is that the rule that allows points for the 24 pre-dates the rule about no points for races.

I'll also be risking it mudguardless so we can have a united front if there's any issue.

Nick is very reasonable. Enjoy the cake!
I've routed our Easter Arrow over some of the roads around Rutland. It's brilliant cycling county.

Thanks! Will do.

Same mudguard question for Gently Bentley..?
Can’t see anything either way on Audax sure or KW -

If it doesn't have an M in the facilities bit on the calendar event page then they're not compulsory.

This bit...? And I’m good by the look of it

Just signed up to Audax UK. Just need to collect my new bike next week and get a few steady 50kms under my belt!
-
• #8919
Good stuff!
Any particular goals? -
• #8920
Get to 200km in next 12 months.
Havent cycled regularly for about 9 months so just want something fun that'll get me out at weekends rather than getting listless while sitting on the sofa. While being overseas realised if I'm to have to work then I'll need something regular and outdoors based to look forward to at the weekends. Seems to be fairly social too.
Having said all this, my main goal is to eat more cake.

Ok cool. So what’s your current fitness level? And how often you planning to ride? Lastly where are you based?
-
• #8922
Fitness level is OK. Been in south America for 6 months - lost weight, lots of hiking and trekking.
Based in North London so can get to some of the calendar events in Cambridge, Essex, Herts and Bedfordshire easily. Also have family in Yorkshire and Worcestershire for others.
Plan to get an audax at least once a month if I can on top of solo weekend rides/touring.

You’ll get to 200km no probs. It’s a good goal though. If you’d like company some time give me a shout.
What bike have you gone for? -
• #8924
Will do, definitely. Have done 200km in the past, just want to gradually increase distances and climbing skills and not give myself unrealistic goals. Just want to ride more tbh!
Bike is here - will collect it next week.

Anyone done Greenwich Mean Climb as a Perm or a DIY?
