I think I'm going to have to flake. Recent back injury, and work and life crap before that has kept me off the bike for much of the last year. Last time I did a c.30k road ride I was struggling more than I should be, so this is probably above my level at the moment. Gutted as it looks like it's going to be ace. I may well attempt it later in the year once I'm feeling stronger. Have a great time.

-
• #33
It's gonna be windy, and potentially wet on day 2. Can't wait!
-
• #34
I hope those are gust readings...
-
• #35
Your Vagabond looks fit for the task. The pace is laidback usually on these rides. Nobody is dropped even if a crank falls off

Well...
Just need to figure out how to use a frame bag as a sail -
• #37
What are people taking cooking-wise?
-
• #38
I wasn't going to take anything. Will pre-pack snacks and get some on the way.
On day 1 with 20km left to go we have Crickhowell with plenty shops and pubs. Perhaps early dinner there plus stock for the evening/morning? -
• #39
Sounds sensible, though 20km in Wales is no short hop

Hey! Pleased to have you along, that will make four of us. Your bike should be fine! Just bring normal repair kit, with tubeless stuff etc
-
• #41
Yes, agreed. Just snacks and no-cook meals (peanut butter and banana tortilla ftw)
Other kit everyone should have:
Sleeping bag at least rated to 5 degrees
Sleeping mat
Bivvy/something incase bothy is full
Good lights for you and bike
Waterproof jacket and trousers
Shoes that you can push a bike in!
Puncture/tubeless repair kitThat’s it for now...
-
• #42
Have no bivvy. Guess I could take a bin bag...
-
• #43
Taking the tent fly, hope it will fit on that tiny porch outside
-
• #44
That should be good for 3 of us, I can take some of it!
-
• #45
Should be good with Revelate Harness. Cheers

Just a heads up, but i’ve heard some of the taff trail out of Merthyr is closed off. Couldn’t tell you exactly where though i’m afraid. I should be doing this, living in Cardiff but alas a weekend off with the wife beckons. Have fun all!

I can also bring a small 2 man tent incase there's no room at the bothy! Sounds like a Bible story...
Also crickhowel is a lovely place. Plenty of food options there! :)
Although I'm still sorely tempted to bring the stove for coffee and porridge in the morning

Last time I brought the Trangia. Scrambled eggs and tea for three.
Definitely no space for that this time around D:

And someone that doesn’t know what he’s doing with a tubeless repair kit 😇
Booked.
