I'm assuming I can maintain the Wretched Bachelor/Hermit Lifestyle as well, living on chickpeas and tomatoes, surrounded by old bike parts in a not-very-nice flat; my girlfriend may have something to say about that...
A new bike makes job hunting less soul-destroying so I'm going to maintain the illusion for now

New salsa offerings......probably brilliant, maybe not pretty, definately 'super boost' fucking standard....157mm rear spacing.

My 2012, out of date, spearfish would piss all over the new ones......as soon as I recover fully from smashing myself up, that is

I've already put a copyright in for 'superdooperboost'......it's the latest standard.....4foot 7cms.....metric/imperial mashup, due to the uncertain brexatious situation......
It's the next big thing, dontchaknow

thinking about milking my work's cycle to work scheme to get myself an MTB. Scheme is limited to Evans Cycles. If you had up to a grand to drop, what would you get?
I just want to pootle around Epping Forest, so I guess I don't need to get carried away. Like is there such a significant difference between this at £800 and this at £1000 that I'd be a chump to buy one and not the other?

Pinnacle Iroko 1 would be my pick. Proper tyres, proper brakes, modern geometry and standards, coated aluminium fork stanchions, decent gear kit. And it looks nice.
Spend a hundred on a Brand X dropper post from CRC and you're good to go.

Interesting, hadn't clocked that one. I like that it has actual boost spacing and not the bullshit 141mm QR Boost which everything else at this price range seems to suffer.
-
• #13512
Yeah, it's maddening. The Trek was looking alright up until I saw that.
But the Pinnacle still has proper hardtail geo anyway.

Seems like a consensus. Now I've just got to manage to wait till the end of April for it to come in to stock.

Just put a deposit down on a Whyte T130 C RS, the 2017 model. Going to be a serious upgrade from my Genesis Latitude hard tail!

Love mine but frustrated it's not getting much use atm. Got a reverb dropper for mates rates as i heard mixed things about the CRC and the tyres are set up tubeless other than that it pretty much stock.
What size you after?

Got a 2000 € voucher from Cannondale (they couldn't fix my caadx) so I bought this one at my lbs. It's a 2018 model so got a 15% discount on it. My first 29 'er.

Peachy bike, what’s the price on the 2017?
-
• #13521
Awesome bike, it was on my short list of potential full sus purchases a couple of years back after test riding it. Amazingly capable bike for a short travel platform. Super speedy.

I got it for £1750, it was a £4k bike when new. It also has Thomson stem and carbon bars. Hoping it makes my scrotum as distended as DANNY HEART'S.
-
• #13523
Yes. Easton carbon bars and stem, Pro dropper, semi stealth routed and on upgraded wheels. I'm looking for £600. Awesome bike.
-
• #13524
A LOT of bang for your buck. Like said above, incredibly capable bikes.
When will it arrive?
Where will be its first outing? -
• #13525
Ah, was hoping for just frame but obviously you've a whole new bike. Stupid me.
Got a pic? I'll pass on to a mate
I said that too....and then I got my first ever adult sized paycheck and had to rethink everything.
Maybe the tax man buys a nice bike with your first ever adult sized paycheck
