Well the organisers screwed this up a bit...
https://edition.cnn.com/2019/03/04/sport/cycling-women-belgium-intl-scli-spt
A breakaway female cyclist was forced to stop during a prestigious race in Belgium after she started to catch up with the men's competition, which had started 10 minutes earlier.
Swiss cyclist Nicole Hanselmann described it as an "awkward moment" when she was held up in Saturday's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad race after she broke away from the women's pack and caught up with the men's support vehicles.

It was just a newspaper whose cycling coverage is generally poor beyond July and the Olympics trying to write something about a team and races it just doesn't mention. Should have fully committed to an article about the cobbled classics/Monuments/one-day racing that the average Guardian reader won't know about.
Plus there also a bit double-standard: its terrible when Sky dominates the TdF, but fine when Quickstep dominate...well pretty much everything else.

Aaaaaaand QS just won again. Senechal - Le Samyn.

... aaand there's my reminder to unsubscribe to this thread when the racing starts.
-
• #20258
RIP sweet prints. I'll miss you checking the thread at 9pm on a TdF stage day and replying to 20 random posts left over the course of the day's action.
-
• #20259
Oh, that will still happen. What won't happen though is me seeing results before I watch the race. Then you get the live(ish) replay then the deluge of arguing.

• #20260
Me too that was being recorded

Sorry for the spoiler.
As a general question, how are people offsetting viewing? Sky/Virgin DVR? Are there other ways?
-
• #20262
Virgin Tivo has most interesting races on Eurosport. Some are on BBC. If there's something weird in some minor race then it'll be on youtube or twitter or something. cyclingfans.com for streams still going?
-
• #20263
https://tiz-cycling.racing/homepage/ is where it's at. Live streams (though you often have to reload from time to time) and the last 30k is usually up in an hour or two and sometimes the whole stage.
Avoid cycling sites and this thread (though I know it is difficult with the genuinely expert analysis it offers) and you are good to go. -

A Eurosport sub is worth £40 if you’re going to be watching a lot. It has the races on demand too so you can watch at your leisure.
-
• #20265
I think £50 is what you’d pay a month for football so I don’t grumble anymore

What are the odds on a Decuenick-QuickStep cobbled classics whitewash?
-
• #20267
He definitely phoned that one in. What’s with the half arsed book review woven into it? I’m surprised at the Guardian blowing smoke up Decuenick-QuickStep’s collective arse given the Kiesse incident in Argentina and the bollocks ‘Wolfpack’ tag.

I never win races either, so I’m 95% of the team.
-
• #20269
they look as strong as ever, but I'm praying for a Corendon-Circus win in Flanders ;-)
Quik-Step vs Niki Terpstra now 3-0, must hurt. Nice to se Boom up front in the finale again, finally

I just hate paying for a service and still being subjected to an advert break every 10mins.
-
• #20271
never noticed these before so think they might be new - some 10 minute highlights for free on youtube from eurosport

This.
Avoiding the Web all day to miss spoilers is refreshing too, and can skip ads if you're watching on demand.
I think the tdf had ad-free coverage last year? -
• #20273
Eurosport has an ad and commentary-free live stream of almost every race in their program if that’s your thing!
-
• #20274
Nah. Their cycling coverage is garbage 24/7/365.
-
• #20275
Anyway one of the best races of this year Saturday.
Strada biance
So who's winning Strade Bianche?
