  • Le Tricoteur are makers of the best machine-knit Guernsey style sweaters but I don't really go for the reversable neck shape. Does anyone here know of a company that does one with a more standard crew neck while retaining that fantastically tough knit that doesn't snag or stink and wears like iron? I had a knitter change the neck on mine but it was very expensive.
I've tried Guernsey Woolens and they aren't near as good.

  • I've got this from Labour and Wait

I've worn it more or less daily for 18 months now. Washed it once due to stains, not due to smells. There's literally no signs of wear apart from the neck having adjusted when I chose sides.

Before this, I had their Breton sweater for a few years but wanted something new. The Breton sweater held up incredibly well but I think this one is even more hard wearing.

If I have to complain I'd mention the slightly short sleeves, but that's more to do with me being tall and lanky with chimpanzee arms than their sizing I think

  • I find it doesn't look right with a collared shirt underneath - it's designed so that there is no front or back so you can imagine that it tends to ride higher (and wider) than a typical one.
