  • Yeah prices are reasonable because their wheels are fucking terrible.

  • Oh really? Poor build quality or reliability?

  • It’s gone up a fair bit since you posted it olly. But still reckon awesome. And for your little need there will be lots of smiles.

Would love to have something like this. But living in London zone 2 is kinda overkill.

  • Both, wheels that turn up and don't hold air, and wheels that bend really easily.

    Avoid.

  • Bummer. Had been ogling a set of these with anthracite centres for the 159 :(

  • Barrels or lips? I would always go for stainless lips anyway

  • Heavy when compared to alloy, and in the worst place for weight as it's unsprung and far from the hub.

  • It is totally awesome. But, for my ‘needs’ I think a swb series Landrover 2.25 petrol is a better fit. Galvanised chassis ideally but oily rag mechanicals. Much less useful tool admittedly, but in the long run parts availability and support better. Also I prefer to blend in these days!

Edit: and no real need for a tipper.

  • isnt Nissan Stage pretty similar - same running gear and engine in certain models -not as nice i must admit - but still stealthy....

  • Green card for European motoring - you can't get them for the period of your insurance (from Locktons, anyway) but rather you have to get them per-trip, and it takes two weeks to generate one.

So if you fancy popping to Morzine at the weekend you'd better have asked for the green card a couple of weeks ago, or you are flying.

  • That sounds bloody frustrating. Presumably something similar will be imposed for EU entry to UK also?

  • Yes, although the lunacy of this means that if you are in Ireland you need to give two weeks notice to cross into Northern Ireland, and vice versa, or be uninsured.

  • Shite, I travel between Ireland and UK quite a lot by car/ ferry. This will be a nuisance.

  • green card

AXA told me these would only be needed in the event of no deal. But to allow 14 days.

  • Yes, all if no-deal.

  • It would be a pain tho - having to make send the details of where you're going, what dates etc.

Thinking about when I drove with some colleagues to a snowboard festival in Austria and we planned the route through various countries. How would that work now?

Do you list ALL THE COUNTRIES, what about the dates?

Wasn't pistonheads all for Brexit? What's their view on this? Surely there must be plenty who pop over for a rinse at the weekend.

  • Brexiters aren't good on detail, they hate and fear it.

  • I think planned trips will be an afternoon of head scratching and writing it all down, eg my trip to southern Italy needed quite a lot of advance planning anyway, so green cards and IDPs would have just been another step.

I'm not saying it's great, but for planned trips, even if long distance, it's not such a big deal.

However when I was younger I did used to do trips across to France and Holland on literal whims, I guess you could just fly now but I loved how much freedom and spur of the moment travel car ownership suddenly afforded you when you turned 17. Obviously money was a factor but petrol and ferries were cheaper back then.

  • Has anyone the link which explains driving licences apres Brexit?

    Thanks.

  • Flying and hire cars. It's the way forwards. And backwards thanks to the ERG/Brexiteer fucktards.

tl;dr to drive in the EU (ex. Spain) you will need to get a 1968 IDP every 3yrs. To drive in Spain* you will need a 1949 IDP every yr.

*there may be other EU countries that need a 1949 IDP, but they aren't ones I am likely to drive to. ymmv.

  • Thanks. You really are following me! Lol

  • Incoming!

  • I'm actually going for one, drivers side, and it'll have heating elements retro-fitted.
