If you're still looking into wheels for the 996 you might fancy a look at Image Wheels also, not sure if they were mentioned upthread?
They've got some excellent designs and prices are fairly reasonable I'd say for what are all custom order wheels.

I've only ever used bike carriers on there - no experience of lashing stuff down I'm afraid.
