I have purchased a Lion OS 10.7 CD online which I am hoping to install manually. Think that'll work?This has been my workshop machine for three years, and hence has not been connected to the internet, and never got updates. It has also spent the last year with an exploded battery and no trackpad. Just got it fixed up because I don't like waste and it was £200 to fix against £400 for a 'new' second hand machine. It's also a secondary back-up for my large image archive.

I wondered if someone could help. I have an old macbook running OS 10.6.8 and I would ike to upgrade it. These machines don't have recovery mode. I can't go to the App store on the machine because App Store needs a more recent version of Chrome than my OS can support. So I'm in a bit of a bind. Any ideas?
