It'll all be on one level. Thanks for your interest. Do you think we should consider a change in level?

Consider where/when you'll get the most light... your opportunity seems to be to capturing breakfast sunlight via the roof?
Try and work out how often you'll use the doors and plan accordingly... If you won't often open the bifolds, then consider making your window to the right a door to the garden (drainage willing), you could then have frameless glazing in the dining area?
If you opt for bi-folds, then don't skimp on the model used as some mechanisms and seals age poorly. Definitely don't introduce the flat roof (as it will be more problematic and expensive).

Thanks Oliver, that stuff is great though possibly a cause of crashes as well.

Bit of an odd one, but does anyone want to buy a Muuto Enfold Tall, in grey/oak?
The published measurements are 94.5w / 84h / 45d, which are actual bollocks cos it doesn't fit in our 96cm alcove and we're now involved in a complicated returns fandango. Real width is more like 99.5w but you'd be better off assuming a metre.Brand new – literally brought by delivery peeps assembled from van to house a week ago, where it now sits in a corner looking awkward. Internal shelves still wrapped in bubblewrap, and it's been covered in a blanket to keep the cat off it.
I got it at 15% off retail (£1,316) and muuto have offered 20% off if I keep it. I don't know if that compounds, but that would mean end cost is probably about £1,000 so I offer it up at that.
There's genuinely nowhere I can fit it so I'm pushing for a full return, but it would save a lot of email hassle and provide a good deal if someone wants it here instead.
If anyone knows of a nice light/oak/ish ~95cm sideboard that'll fit, please let me know!

Ha, it's an interesting question. I'd imagine that, on the contrary, this sort of visual oddity would induce greater caution in drivers, as per the usual risk compensation mechanism. I'm not sure how one would go about finding out what really happens around it. :)

I don't like tall buildings, full stop. I think they are built symbols of injustice. These remind me very much of the thin towers in ancient Italian cities, e.g. Siena:
The reason why they are shaped like this is obviously different from the reasons for tower-building back then, but I still see similarities.

Anyone here done a kitchen in birch ply and formica? Probs going to commission this guy to put new doors, uprights and worktops on our inherited (horrible shiny cream) Magnet kitchen.

• #2560
I’ve done similar. There’s also plykea for off the shelf doors.

Hmmh. Do they do uprights as well? - Edit yes they do!
Nice nice nice. Any ideas how a dunce like me should go about specifying the dimensions and requirements for drilling etc?
Edit again. They really only do Ikea stuff. I need someone to start Plyagnet.

On a similar theme. Any suggestions on where to get replacement kitchen unit doors? Kitchen could do with a bit of a spruce up and this seems the easiest way.

Plykea.

I think I spoke to them and they said they can do other brands.

• #2565
I looked at them but the units aren't Ikea and I'll need some custom sizes for some odd-sized cupboards.
-
• #2566
The way I read the FAQs, they’ll do the odd bespoke bit, but it looks like the responsibility of measuring up would be with buyer. Scoping a whole kitchen for fittings etc would be well out of my comfort zone.

@Fatberg https://customfronts.co.uk/
These guys do them for Ikea but very active on IG so easy to speak with them on that

you could try a Land Registry title search? costs £3 for the title register and another £3 if you want the boundary plan/map.
edit: a map enquiry is probably your best bet if it’s hard to determine whether it has a street/‘house’ number

that would be amazing, I have often wanted to do the same but you'll always get outbid by a corp that plans on making a few mil in profit on a project.

That one has specifically had a request to be turned into flats refused by local planning - it’s not protected but they said they wouldn’t approve it. I’d keep the front basically untouched.

thats a great building. Good luck on your investigation hope it works out, would make a great house.

Looks like a local electrical substation so will belong to whoever your local DNO is.
Are the extension floor going to be level with existing kitchen or a step down?
