  • So I finally decided to watch season 1 of True Detective. Just done four episodes When does it get good? Jeez...

  • About 4 episodes ago. You must have missed it.

  • Meh. No it didn't

  • Watched 2, the first was a little slow but it's getting going. Interesting characters (although the big guy's tiny head is weird) and the story looks like it could go somewhere, couple of decent fights with some fun splatters. Will carry on with it tonight.

  • but enough about your love life, how was the show?

  • Umbrella academy is well made but having watched it all it's basically taken a single plot element from a bunch of other shows and jumbled them together loosely. it feels a lot like the doomsday plot from heroes with the samson unit plotlines from preacher built around a bunch of superheroes who don't seem to ever use their (underwhelming) powers and it starts with the death of the overbearing father so they all get plenty of opportunity to be all brooding and mardy about everything. it quickly becomes a lets resolve our problems by discussing them repeatedly than a lets fix everything by punching it in the face like real superheroes.

  • ^f’kin spoilers

Got two to go, I’m loving the whole pulp fiction jaded hitman vibe bit the best.

  • I liked it about 85% because of the guy who was in misfits.

  • Danzig is in it?!

  • Surprised to see that Slipknot survived the zombie apocalypse.

  • I remember now why I had such a hard time with Star Trek Discovery.

    Jesus wept this is bad.

  • Am rather enjoying Season 2 of Punisher.

  • hang in there - it gets worse.

  • It's still totally bonkers, I'm loving it... Friday night has become Star Trek night, new episodes of Discovery and Orville every week...

  • That scene with the weights had me peeking out from behind my fingers.

  • Seth MacFarlane tho...

  • Easy to forget he's in it...

  • Yup, spacenerds forever!

  • did the cameraman on Star Trek Discovery this week have too many Red Bulls - (s)he never sat still

worst episode so far - and thats a hard thing to do.

  • Watched all the Twin Peaks seasons. Excellent television, season 2 should not work for me as it is part soap opera inspired, yet it totally did.

Season 3 episode 8 (the one with the bomb) is absolutely fantastic mad TV. Overall I liked season 2 better, but can't really fault season 3, it is just different.

There are loose ends in the plot, explained in the books / on fandom, if that bothers you.

Off to watch the bureau season 4.
Season 1/2 are on amazon and really good, but they stopped after. Excellent writing and dialogues, with a gray morality that is not so cynical that it feels like an edgy reboot.

  • Alan Partridge is great so far. Making me want to eat my own fist.

  • So fucking good.
