I had the same opiniom, talking to some ex-pro mechanic the recalls a couple years back when they launched the Etap almost made the business go bust, thanksfully zipp was there to balance the books, I think they basically kept to last gem design as they probably know it looks ugly but as long as it makes money and has no recall issues they’ll happy sacrifices the looks of the thing for now.

Not sure about the look of new Etap... the rear derailleur looks droopy, and the cranks look like last gen Rival.
