  • Agreed, was and probably still is my dream frame but just doesn't get ridden :'|

  • It’s going to a good home.

  • 28s should fit fine, I ran 28mm Gravelkings in my 631 disc, and 32mm paselas in my 853, God I miss that frameset.

  • That's good to know. Think the limiting factor will be the chainstays but hopefully 28 Continentals will be safer than 32's with them often coming up wider.

  • The paselas were a tight fit, but never had me worried.

  • That is gonna be nice!

  • The 32c Continental 4 Seasons had 1/1.5mm gap on the chainstay which is too close for me personally. 28's should be fine for what I want and visually look more balanced, plus have to remember this will be my 'fast' bike so kind of makes sense. Just looking for a 6800 compact chainset and Ti layback seatpost then good to go.

  • these? they come in 30c

  • @amey @PhilDAS uncharacteristically not wanting gumwalls, feel like it might be a bit much with the Norwich Town FC paint. Have 28 Continental 4 seasons fitted and the clearance is just about right, not the most grammable tyre but got them cheap for the same price as Gravel Kings, so was a no brainer (personally).

  • 28mm wide tyres fitted

  • I have these TRP calipers on my road bike and they are fantastic. When setup with compression-less housing they provide silly amounts of stopping power.

Love the look of this build (as well as all your others FWIW) so will be lurking with interest. Good luck!

  • I'd read similar reviews but was withholding judgement until trying as never used long drop calipers before. Also coming from 6800 calipers which are amazing wasn't expecting much - good to know you're another happy owner. Might have to try the compressionless housings...

Thanks very much, currently waiting on a compact 6800 chainset in 175 then should be rolling

  • GP 4 seasons ride better than their size, should perfect on this build.

  • Your 631 equilibrium is in good hands :)

  • Have you got pics of it built up?

  • Out on East Lothians's finest gravel, the Pencaitland Railway.

  • Nicely done. Glad it's seeing some use. Sorry for for the interuption @jambon , 853 looking good so far.

  • No need to apologise, bikes looks great and love the elegant steel fork. Wish I could slam the stem and not have so much post showing but alas.

  • Don't ask. The Equilibrium turned into a Titanium Sabbath September, essentially the geo was better and could take a rack so thought it would be more future-proof, although only time will tell with my recent record.

Went for a 2 minute blast up the road in between hail storms and forgot now smooth titanium is, especially on a recently resurfaced road. Really happy with this, it's only a purple headset and titanium seatpost away from being finished.

  • lovely bike, suspicious brake pad placement for a mid-reach frame ..

  • Well spotted, the brakes are TRP's RG957's (long drop) and the frame is designed for 'normal' (mid-reach?). My 6800 calipers were too close for the 28 wide tyres so the TRP's had to be fitted, I did expect the frame to take long drops though. Having said all that they work really well, surprisingly good bite.

  • strange for a frame designed for mudguards to have normal brakes, it should be those TRPs with pads vertically in the 2nd half of the slot

  • also R8000 will have better clearance than 6800

  • strange for a frame designed for mudguards to have normal brakes

Sometimes I'm fussy but other times it seems like manufacturers make weird decisions.
