the image isn’t my bike, taken from product images of the type of thing I’m after - sorry should have said. I have neither the clearance nor mounts for proper ones (px pro carbon road forks). I’ve found a pic of my set up before I broke it.

Have been noticing my rims getting dirty really quickly (after one ride). I imagine it's down to the guards catching all the crap but then depositing it on the wheels. Worried that the rims are getting worn out (bike has long reach caliper rim brakes). Anyone got any suggestions for minimising this? Wondering if it's made worse by the clearance being relatively close, but not much I can do about that. I guess a disc brake bike would be a drastic solution...

Has anyone fitted full mudguards to a Trek Domane ALR disc?
Recommendations would be welcome.

Where did you get yours?

This photo is from their Instagram.
I’m running 45mm PDWs.
While I like the look of these not sure I’d wanna deal with the heft of stainless guards. I wish the smooth VO ones came in black.

This would be for my commuter so not fussed about heft really.

Are you not scared your commuter will get bashed against things and the guards will stress and fracture?
-
• #4063
Is that a thing with GB guards?
My current bluemels are flexy and the stays are constantly popping out on the bits in the fender that's supposed to hold it in.
Want something sturdier.

I'm just scaremongering. I'm sure its fine. I've never had metal guards except on a 30 year old commuter (and they stressed and fractured but it was 30 y/o)

The Berthoud are not any heavier than your PDW?
-
• #4066
Stainless guards are not what id call heavy
-
• #4067
To be fair, I'm only going on what I've heard / read here that the steel ones are significantly heavier. Not looked at the numbers.

I've used PDW, SKS and GB. SKS are the lighest and floppiest, Id always try and go stainless if i can and now they're in black I wont need to buy anything else. They're light, stiff and not brittle like alu guards.

How is the length on the rear GBs? Looks a little short for group rides without an extra long flap.
I've had good luck with alu guards so far . My hammered VO fenders have been on my tourer now daily commuter for 7 years. PDW are working well on the Isen for past 9 months or so with Edelux light mounted on front.

GB come in two lengths -short:
and long:

Thanks,
Those photos are helpful.
Interesting on the GB website the powdercoating takes the weight up from ~400g to 509g
Still less than the PDW guards listed at 518g

I thought the short and long versions only refers to the front guard, the description on the website seems to support that too?

I've misunderstood wildly then, i always though it was both, I defer to you on this.

Seems like a good place to ask: can I buy something like an extender/dropper bracket to lower the mudguard bridge, as I have a hefty gap between fork crown and wheel? Or would this require some fettling?
Apologies if this is a stupid question. I'm not having much luck with searches.

If you need some kind of doohickey your answer is almost always on SJS
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/mudguards/0-thorn-mudguard-spacer-anodized-black-20mm/
But also go to your LBS and look in their parts box they'll probably have something.
But why? You have room and mounts for proper mudguards
