  • Do you by any chance know the weight?

  • Tern’s 27.5 folder actually looks pretty cool. Would be great with 1x.

  • Has anyone put proper touring / audax distance on big 650b tires?

I'm planning a few 300km plus rides this year and I'm worried the tires will roll too slow/the bike will be too heavy...been looking at Caad 5s again.

  • Pump em up to road tyre pressures and they’ll roll quick. I did 150 on 700x42s not so long ago and that was no more difficult than on 25s I thought

  • Caads are sick though

  • Back rolling on biggies ...

  • But those thunderburts are so skinny. Pinched them flat on first ride - sucked. Any suggestions for some lightweight semi knobby rubbers ?

  • That will be an expensive day if you crash it
    flashbacks to @Dick

  • You running them tubed or tubeless? Burts prefer tubeless and not too low a pressure. I've ridden them for years on/off road even on sharp rocky coastal cliffs for a year and they've held up fine. They are superb tyres, but aren't fit and forget.

  • I converted my 700c road bike to 650b for audax type riding.

The og 650b bikes were randonneur bikes ... which is basically a french audax. Tyres around 30-42mm.

Audax and touring on 650b, from 38mm to a hefty 50mm.

Much better suited than 700c of similar sizes (especially in term of weight, strength and speed).

  • Gravel king in 1.9 vs Gravel king sk

  • Yes tubeless- what pressures you recommend? Round about 84 kg with kit and shoes ...

  • Can be - I hope for the best.... haha

  • A little under 300km on Switch Back Hill extralights. A few gravel/singletrack 250kms on ThunderBurt liteskins. Both tubeless orangeseal endurance.

Yes they roll slower than a 700x35 for example. I'm just riding along looking around at things.

  • I'm about 75kg with a rack back as well, so I hung around the 35psi on sketchy rides and upped them to 40 if there was a lot of tarmac.
I've searched high and low, and still can't find a lighter, faster rolling mixed terrain tyre. WTB's offering by comparison was pathetically slow.

This is referring to thunder burts? Just to be clear

  • Does anyone have a 42c tyre (any conditon) for cheaps I can use to check clearances on something? Or even better, worn out/free.

  • Looking for a lite and supple 650x2.8 XC tyres.
I had some Bomboloni, but they were a bit of a pig.

  • Anyone got some 650 wheels with 47c tyres on them (WTB Horizons ideally, but anything really) I could check clearance with?

Work in Farringdon, live in Hackney, happy to travel for 'em. Just need to chuck one in my front fork for 30 seconds...

  • Any recommendations for 650b wheelsets, tubeless ready? Currently looking at Hunt and Just Riding Along traildogs...

  • I been on a set of DT Swiss 350/XM401s that have been riding really well for nearly two years.

Bonus points - you can take off all the decals!

    Too bad it's Tern...

  • They’ve come a long way to be fair. The new wave of Terns are decent.

  • More than welcome to try with mine,(WTB Horizons), but I work in TW7 and live in KT4 so may not be ideal.
