  • Having to add 'I think' indicates that we can't even say with complete assurance that they're programmed not to hit people. While they're - probably - programmed not to, we have no idea of the priorities in their algorithms.

    Agreed, the cars that will become commonplace on our roads don't exist yet. I'm optimistic though that the technology will eventually remove erratic and aggressive human behaviour from lethal heavy vehicles, which make our environment less habitable for normal people, i.e those not travelling in a protective metal box.
