People have asked about the joint.
I used an old 1 1/8" (aka OD 28.6) steerer and turned it down on the lathe. 20mm at OD27.2 and 20mm at OD26.8.
I then put flux on the inside of the joint and heated it up attempting to get brass to flow into the joint and create a solid joint.
As this is a bike for me I don't mind taking the risk. But I can't recommend others do the same. Replacing the whole tube is better but I wanted to keep as much of the paint and bosses working and this was a lot quicker
