Paid by debit card, so I doubt it. Happily I know some attorneys in the US, so if they don't go bust but simply try to hang onto the cash I can send the boys round.

I am not quite that big but also not far off. Currently riding a Tripster ATR which has shown no signs of weakness. Having room for wider tyres makes a difference, too.

I am thinking of getting a custom frame built out of Columbus XCr tubing with Columbus Minimal carbon forks. Read reviews but don't always trust them...So, anyone on here owns or ridden am road bike built from XCr? How does it compare to titanium? (I have a Merlin 3AL2.5V Ti frame with Columbus Minimal forks and Enigma Drape Disc in To)...But I rarely use the Enigma and I really don't have room for two bikes...My aim is something comfortable without mudguards but with attachments to use occasionally a rack for bags...being comfortable all day is important...rim brakes not disc...Any observations or advice would be welcomed...if I do go ahead...considering Saffron Frame Works or possibly Swallow....The alternative is sticking with Titanium but something that that is multi purpose too.

My experience only :
I have an XCR frame - Tommasini X fire with carbon fork - and have had one titanium frame - a Carrera Podium from the 90s - 3AL2.5V with carbon rear stays and carbon fork. Dimensions of the titanium frame were very different from the XCR frame - taller head tube for example. I had used same wheelset on both bikes (not always) different stem systems different groups, tires, seats, seat post... so many variables that make it hard to specify what attributes are due to frame material only.
That being said - I experienced the titanium frame as more pliable and the XCR as more rigid. Road feel / vibrations is more transparent on the XCR frame than the titanium frame I had. I think it is really hard to convey feel and there are so many variables, but when you realise how thin the XCR main tubes and the diameter of top tube and down tube on my frame - it makes sense. For me it is a more of a "racey" frame but no problem for long distance rides.I have too many bikes now (various steel, carbon and aluminum)- but I was thinking about replacing a few with a more multipurpose titanium bike (gravel / cross / touring). Until I do that I can't provide more feedback on the difference!
A custom build XCR will most likely give you the properties you are looking for based on frame size, geo and chosen tubing diameter. -

Wow, that's lovely. Primarily for the road? Would be a perfect road fixed weapon with some SRAM carbon levers

Thanks. Yes I only ride it on the road. Finished it just before last summer and got a good few thousand miles clocked up.
I’ve not used road levers for years now; quite happy with the small cx lever. -

At last - got the Ti winter training bike finished and out on the first ride. Took a while to get the cracked seat post repaired (Carbon Fibre Solutions did a great job). The 2 speed works really well with the Campag shifter and is most welcome up the hills !

Has anyone any experience of the Lynksey Backroad, Reilly Gradient for Genesis CdF Ti?
I’m looking for a do it all bike. Winter, touring, bikepacking... -

Really nice - do you have room for mudguards on there?
Here’s my enigma that I’m considering swapping/part exchanging for an esprit with eyelets for the commutes and club runs...

Cheers - that Enigma is a cracker, the beefier tubes look great with that paint - can you not fit any guards on there at all? I'd be tempted to knock up something slightly more economical with guards & keep that as is,
There's 25c GP Classics on there just now - might get away with raceguards or similar with 23c tyres but tbh I haven't ever measured it up, the fork has eyelets but not the frame. Been toying with the idea of swapping the fork for a full-carbon job as it's the only thing on it i'm not 100% happy with (other than the 3 foot steerer...) reckon it would suit an Enve or Columbus with the straight blades.

yeah, I've been fettling some SKS clip on things to fit but they always rattle and rub after a few miles... I really want to be able to get some proper guards on it like PDW metal fenders but there isn't enough clearance at the back with 25c on wide rims... shame really
I've been thinking of changing the forks for some straight Easton EC90...
If I had room for guards I was thinking of putting some steel forks on it with internal dynamo routing, a lamp and some low-rider pannier racksCheers,

Actually suits those mudguards - but yeah, the clip on ones are a bit of a pain, even most sks efforts disintegrate after a couple of winters' abuse.
Forgot the EC90 (SL?) came straight too, the curved one has quite a nice profile to it mind - the steerer on the Moda is 1 1/8 straight & the nicer carbon forks are slowly disappearing...
Cheers!

I would say the back road is very similar to my cooper cx and that is a very capable do it all . Its like a magnet to the woods.

Have you got enough spokes in that rear wheel?! Curious about the 2-speed hub.
-
• #1023
Yes a strong wheel indeed - it is a 1934 Sturmey Archer TF 2 speed Fixed hub - 40 holes so had to get the carbon rim specially drilled . 1:1 drive and a 25% reduction for the hills - works really well
