Haltwhistle.
Heading south & get close to mcr via some scenery will be the aim.

Yep, got the 10l one. I use it for anything over 10 miles normally so I can carry drink, emergency snack, layers etc. and for long races. It's pretty solid, build quality is not top notch but it does the job and is comfortable over ultra distances. My jacket fits over the top of it too which is handy as you don't have to stop and undress to put a layer on. You can fit two 500ml soft flasks in the front pockets too if you need to carry more drink.

Ran my highest 1 day distance yesterday - ran about 7.5km at lunch with the little run group we have set up at work and then had committed to 5k with my gf in the evening. Was a bit nervous after last tuesdays lunch run of 9km had left my with very sore knees and hips but it was actually fine, if slow.

400Km on these, forefoot area is showing it but the rest is close to new, I clearly land on one very specific part of my foot when I run!

just over three weeks to the Big Half. I haven't run since September. Should I give it a go in the next three weeks, or drop out? Concerned I might injure myself.

1 week quality training, 2 week taper. How bad could it be?
(I wouldn't do it).

If it was me, I'd probably drop out. If you have run the distance before, then I would run it.
It's a long way if you've not prepared....

Depends if you are happy with just getting round. If you are then go for it. If you aren't then don't.
First proper marathon session as part of my ten week build tonight. An hour of laps round Battersea park - felt OK for an evening after a day of graft.

Yes I have done it twice before, the same run last year (2:02) and then the Hackney Half (1:49) in May.
I think I might do some of it, because it starts at Tower Bridge which is very close to where I live in Bermondsey, and then maybe see how it goes... I guess I can always drop out and get home pretty easily after it's done the Shadwell and Wapping bit, if it gets too much.
I really enjoyed the Hackney one last year so maybe this one will act as a springboard to get me back on track.

Yeah I'd be happy just to complete it. Not aiming for any time in particular.

Commute in extended from 11.5km to HM distance. Left hip flexor made itself known at about mile 7 but wasn't painful enough to stop (guessing it's just a bit tight from 5-a-side last night, as was my right calf which took a kick) so I slowed a bit to be on the safe side.
Trudged through in 2h22 with HRavg almost 20bpm below that of my PB for this run. Now being paid to recover at work whilst I dribble into my keyboard.
Also doing The Big Half. Hoping to scrape round in a new PB (2h06).

I'd offer to do it with you, but I think I'm going to walk / jog over there around 9:30, and just join straight in, rather than waiting around in the pens like last year.

Managed to grind out 5km in half an hour last night. Very tough going. But it's a start! I felt good after it, finally feel like I've broken through some psychological wall that was blocking me running since September.

First half marathon yesterday at Hampton Court. Amazing day for it and was such a buzz, 1.27.07 on the chip (though I'm showing on the results as my wife after she helpfully switched them over pre-race).
I hadn't run properly for a few weeks leading up to it as I was having some issues with PF and Achilles pain from overdoing it. That and the 6 pints the night before means I'm happy with the result. Can hardly walk today though and sitting on the loo is not easy. Already looking forward to the next one.

sub-90min for your first HM is very impressive, more so after 6 pints the night before. Great run!

First ever night run on Saturday night. Why haven't i done this before? It was glorious watching all those bobbing glow sticks and torches working their way along the coast. I was deeply tempted to do a scream and launch my glow stick off the edge but figured it was stupid and potentially dangerous, made me chuckle though thinking about it. Not a record breaking pace but absolutely doing more of these, most relaxing run I've had in a long while, also bumped my distance to 7 km from 5 km with the new insoles which have apparently rectified the shin splint issues. Only time will tell on that though.

Great first half marathon time!

Thanks guys. Really want to try my hand at a full one now. Given how shredded my legs are today, I'd imagine it would take a month to recover

first "race" of the year at the weekend at Wokingham, unfortunately it falls in the middle of a block of training for ironman, and for a variety of reasons I can't afford to miss training to taper, so even getting close to my pb (1:23:49) would make me very happy, realistically 1;25 would be a good result to my mind, anyone else running there?

Been blighted by a cold that is kicking the shit out of me. Going to tentatively pop out for a run in a bit to test the waters - I've not been out in a week and a half. The tumbling line on my fitness trend is giving me anxiety.
I've got two races on this weekend, but I'm not sure I'll manage either - XC champs at Harewood on Saturday, then Ilkley Moor Fell Race on Sunday. I also hadn't realised they were on consecutive days. Genuinely a bit gutted that I'm feeling a bit crap - I'd really hoped to have a decent crack at Ilkley, and XC the day before is likely to kill me anyway. -
• #20199
Haha, you legend. That's a quality time. God only knows how fast you'll be minus pints and injury!

Keep it up mate!
Wow! What's the start point?
