I use a tag along trailer, in combination with a kid and front panniers. It means I carry almost everything. It’s pretty heavy, but riding is very predictable and I can even handle it on smaller trails without a problem.
I’m very happy with it. -
I'd rather do a combo of Panniers and bikepacking bags.. It worked for us in the past.
