Benutzungspflicht works great in countries with decent infrastructure. Are you in Switzerland or the UK?

Not exactly what you're after, but looks like a generic flashlight holder would do the job?

I had looked at them and thought them not suitable as there is a fitting slot on the light & bracket that means they won't sit flush but I guess I could just put the light upside down...

Currently in the UK.
And I disagree, I think it's a fundamentally bad idea.

I don't think I've ever met a Dane who would argue that mandatory use of bike lanes is a bad idea. Could you try to explain why you think it's a bad idea? Implemented correctly I see it as a way to make traffic flow smoother and more safe. I'm fully aware that the quality of bike lanes in the UK and other places vary a great deal, but I can't see much wrong with the concept itself.

It's just a way of forcing bicycles off the road and enable planners to continue planning roads just for cars. Way too often, those special cycle lanes are not safe to use at speeds >= 30km/h due to surfacing, width, amount of overview, parked cars / car doors, pedestrians & other obstacles. And to add to that, they are routinely maintained less in winter (or worst case scenario, covered in snow plowed unto them from the roads, that happens in Switzerland too). No thanks, I want to be able to ride on the road if I wish to do so. If the cycle lane is actually amazing, I am definitely going to use it without being forced to, I don't enjoy being stuck in the middle of cars. But as it is, roads are still designed first, and cycle lanes usually routed awkwardly around them.

I'm doing Reading to Slough on a daily basis. Lucky me. I'd be willing to cover that leg of the journey.

So it's not fundamentally a bad idea, but just implemented wrongly were you ride? Around here the council give bike lanes the highest priority when salting/clearing snow, the lanes are wider than the road in places and green lights are timed to speed of bikes.
But as it is, roads are still designed first, and cycle lanes usually routed awkwardly around them.
Not everywhere, fortunately.
But I totally get the frustration, I just wondered about the 'fundamentally bad idea', which I still think it's not.

No, I still think it's fundamentally a bad idea - I just don't agree in principle that bikes should not be allowed on normal roads.

not safe to use at speeds >= 30km/h
Which of course doesn't stop people trying to ride that fast on them, to the detriment of everyone else's safety.

Hopefully @umop3pisdn has got it sorted for me, but I'll let you know if it falls through. thank you.

I've bought myself a new beater frame for city commuting etc and it's meant to be a 126 old but it looks like its been bent in slightly and closer to 122 or there abouts, not a huge issue, but one of the rear drop outs has been bent closed slightly and the axle doesn't slide in as it's too tight. No signs of any serious impacts that I can see, so any ideas how to open the drop out again? Simply use a flat metal bar and try and prise it back open slightly? I'm gonna try and remove the paint on the inside of the dropout to see if that helps as it's only just off, but wondered if anyone had any better ideas?
It's a cheap run about so what ever happens it ain't gonna cost much. -

Any recommendations for decent cheap (sub £100) roof bars (ones that go direct into fix points rather than attach to rails). Mrs had enough of the (occasional) bike in the car. Will need compatible/Universal bike carrier figment too.
Cheers

Universal bike carrier figment
I think this is something which only exists in your imagination.

My Legacy needed bars for fix points. They were expensive new and never likely to be found used on ebay etc due to the relative rarity of the car. I never did buy any and sold the car recently. If you own something more common, your best bet is ebay but don't go for a cheap and cheerful new set from ebay because they will (probably) be crap. Car manufacturer's own brand or Thule will fit right and won't let you down. Bike carriers are always on ebay but the prices of them and roofbars start rising at this time of year just like used bikes.
